Rituals!
It was month of Kārtik & agricultural fields were full of crops. After giving Arjun assurances that he would try his best to bring about a peaceful settlement with Kauravas, Sri Krsna retired for the night. Rising early next morning, He heard auspicious sound of brāhmanās chanting Vedic hymns. After performing customary activities of bathing, dressing decorating Himself & smearing perfume, the Lord worshiped Sun-god & Agni
Krsna touched tail of a bull, offered His obeisances to Brāhmanās, circumambulated sacred fire & cast His glance upon auspicious articles that has been purposefully placed within view. After finishing His morning duties, Krsna ordered Sātyaki: Bring My chariot after stocking it with My conch, disc, mace & other weapons, for even wicked persons Like Duryodhana, Karna & Sakuni, shouldn’t be neglected, even by those who are more powerful
Sātyaki had his attendants bathe Krsna’s 4 horses-Saivya, Sugriva, Meghapushpa & Balāhaka. After horses were harnessed to Lord Krsna’s chariot, which was effulgent like fire at the time of dissolution of the universe & was covered by tiger’s skins and decorated with gold & jewels, Garuda came and perched on the flagpole
Krsna got on to the chariot along with Sātyaki, and as He prepared to depart, the sky became clear & fragrant breezes blew. The sacrificial fire blazed cheerfully, while great sages including Vasistha & Vāmandeva, stood reverently at Lord’s right hand side. When He finally set out, the Pāndavās & other great warriors followed the Lord for some distance, so did auspicious animals & birds such as peacocks & swans
Yudhisthira embraced Krsna & said: Lord! Pls meet our mother Kunti, who is ever devoted to worship of demigods, reception of guests & performance of auspicious rites & vows. She suffered so much on our behalf while protecting us from sinister plots of Duryodhana, like a boat saving a ship-wrecked crew from terrors of sea. Inquire about her welfare & comfort her as far as possible. Our mother underwent so much trouble raising us. When we were exiled to forest, she followed us a great distance while weeping bitterly
Dear Krsna! Will the time ever come when, my sufferings will be over & I’ll be able to make my poor mother happy?Pls offer our obeisances to all elderly Kurus as well, especially Vidura, unto whom You should kindly embrace on my behalf
Here the Supreme Lord is teaching us what our daily routine should be at home & at the time of leaving for some engagements. Symbolism of each and every aspect of the things we do & our actions aids positivity in our lives
We have forgotten in this age all these aspects & blindly following the monotony of modern life. These rituals are now set aside with mentally concocted whims and fancies, & we are just running after money, fame & other material things
Let’s learn from Vedic culture, values of various rituals & enrich ourselves. This has huge meaning in comprehensive satisfaction & happiness
