Destroy darkness within the heart with shining lamp of knowledge!

After being commanded by Sri Krsna to come out of his grief & execute the wishes of Vyāsdev, Yudhisthira finally threw off his lethargy & got up from his seat. First, he worshiped all the brāhmanās present & then mounted a new white chariot drawn by 16 white bullocks. Bhima took reins of his elder brother's chariot; Arjuna held a white umbrella over his head and Nakula & Sahadeva fanned him with camaras

Yuyutsu followed Maharaja Yudhisthira on his own chariot, and behind him rode Sri Krsna & Satyaki. Dhritarashtra & Gāndhāri went in front, seated upon a palanquin. Behind the chariots were all the women, tended to by Vidura. In this way the procession proceeded toward Hastinapura. When the citizens learnt of this, they hastily decorated the city & then joyfully went out to greet the Pandavas. Thereafter, as the procession passed through the streets of Hastināpur, thousands upon thousands of people lined the avenues

Maharaja Yudhisthira was coronated with all paraphernalia by sage Dhaumya. He then took his seat along with Draupadi in the sacrificial arena. An Abhisheka was then performed & drums were sounded in honour of the new emperor. The new king gave profuse charity & delivered a short inauguration speech thanking all

Next morning Sri Krsna advised Yudhisthira that he should now go & enquire from Bhisma, who is lying on his bed of arrows, about the varnashrama social system & the four Purusharthas-dharma, Artha, Kama & moksha. He should take advantage of Bhisma’s auspicious presence, for when he passes away, a great quantity of knowledge will disappear along with him

Yudhisthira requested Sri Krsna to accompany him when he goes to see Bhisma & said: O Krsna, Bhisma is your great devotee & so it is so befitting that he be granted the opportunity to see You present before him when at last, he gives up his material body. Sri Krsna immediately ordered His chariot to go

Meanwhile, Bhisma lay upon his bed of arrows surrounded by foremost sages within the universe like Narada, Vyāsdev, Maitreya, Vasishta, Brhaspati, Shukra, Parsurama & Markandeya. In complete self-surrender, Bhishma concentrated his full attention upon the lotus feet of Sri Krsna & in this state of pure consciousness he chanted poetic verses in glorification of his dear Lord

Being conquered by his devotee’s ecstatic devotional love, Sri Krsna from within, had enlightened Bhisma with a very high degree of spiritual understanding that enabled him to have perfect knowledge of everything past, present & future

Krsna says:

teṣām evānukampārtham aham ajñāna-jaṁ tamaḥ
nāśayāmy ātma-bhāva-stho jñāna-dīpena bhāsvatā

To show them special mercy, I, dwelling in their hearts, destroy with the shining lamp of knowledge the darkness born of ignorance

Only by devotional service is the Supreme Truth, Kṛṣṇa, pleased, and by His inconceivable energy He can reveal Himself to the heart of the pure devotee. The pure devotee always has Kṛṣṇa within his heart; and with the presence of Kṛṣṇa, who is just like the sun, the darkness of ignorance is at once dissipated. This is the special mercy rendered to the pure devotee by Kṛṣṇa

We can also get purified just by rendering devotional service to the Lord & have intelligence to fulfill the purpose of this human form of life
