Krsna’s plan!
Bhima approached Yudhisthira & with folded hands declared: O King, the earth is now yours to rule without impediment. At last, all our enemies have been slain!
Yudhisthira said: Dear Bhima, rest assure that I’m
very pleased with you, for you have properly repaid your debt to our mother &
to your anger as well.
At that time all Pāndava warriors rejoiced at
Duryodhana's fall. Some responded by roaring like lions & waving their
garments. Others blew their conch shells & played drums, while still others
laughed aloud & sported by jumping about playfully
However, while everyone was thus engaged in glorifying
Bhima for his accomplishment, Sri Krsna interrupted them by ordering: All of
you should refrain from further rejoicing & harsh speech in Duryodhana's
presence. The sinful & greedy wretch has already been defeated. Let us now
return to our camp so that he can die in peace
Hearing Krsna’s harsh words, Duryodhana became
enraged. Raising himself up on his knees with his arms, he said disdainfully: O
son of Kamsa’s slave, I know that it was You who gave Bhima the idea of killing
me in this abominable manner. Don’t you feel ashamed after causing so many
great heroes to be killed by deceptive means? If You had fought fairly, Bhima
Drona Karna & Bhurisrava would never have been defeated
Sri Krsna said: You have been killed because of your sinful
life. Therefore, don’t try to blame others. Same holds true for Bhisma Drona
& Karna, for they had foolishly followed your path. Don’t you remember how
you had tried to burn Pandavas to death in their sleep? Have you forgotten how
you tried to poison Bhima & insulted Draupadi? It is you who is truly
shameless & deserves to be killed
Duryodhana said: I’ve already enjoyed the kingdom of
earth, along with its opulence. Therefore, I consider myself to be fortunate to
be dying a hero’s death. While I enjoy my life in heaven, it will be You & Pandavas
that will be pitied, for you will have to remain here, rotting in this miserable
world
At the conclusion of his speech, flowers fell from sky
upon Duryodhana & Gandharvas sang. Great respect was given to him &
seeing this Pandavas felt ashamed. When Krsna saw that His devotees were in
such a miserable state, He said: Dear Pandavas, you never could have defeated
those invincible heroes by fair means. Because I desired to do that which was
beneficial for you, I employed my power of illusion, Yogamaya, to kill these
heroes by diverse means. If I had not done so, victory could never have been
yours
You should not feel aggrieved or guilty that your
enemies were killed by deceitful means. According to military science, when one’s
enemy is stronger, unfair means should be employed. The fact is that this has always
been the custom. It was only by deceit that the demigods were able to defeat
the demons in ancient times. O sons of Pandu, Victory is now yours
Sri Krsna says in Gita
uvāca bahūni me vyatītāni janmāni tava cārjuna
tāny ahaṁ veda sarvāṇi na tvaṁ vettha parantapa
Many,
many births both you and I have passed. I can remember all of them, but you
cannot, O subduer of the enemy!
We
all are finite and have limited capabilities, but the Supreme Lord is infinite &
His memory is also infinite. That is why His plan for our life is far better
than any plan we may make for ourselves. We all need to pray for His blessings
so that we always act on His plan & work accordingly, rather than judging
situations solely based on our understanding or their conformity to our plans
We
all need to seek His blessings to understand how Krsna’s plan unfolds, even
when our plan is unraveling. Let’s surrender!
