God’s power to help is much greater than our power to hurt!

As battle raged between Kauravas & Pāndavās, Uttamāuja suddenly cut off the head of Karna’s son Susena. Bhima became very eager to kill the Dhārtarāshtrās & so he ordered his driver to take him into their midst. As Bhima proceeded to penetrate Kaurava ranks, he slaughtered great many soldiers

Turning to his charioteer Bhima said: O Visoka, take inventory of my weapons. Arjun has still not returned & so I’m afraid that Yudhisthira has perished. If this is the case, the only means I can see for obtaining solace from my unbearable grief would be to exterminate the entire Kaurava army

Visoka said: O Bhima, you still have 60 000 ordinary arrows as well as 20 000 razor headed & 20 000 broad headed arrows. Besides these, there are several thousand maces, swords, darts & other such weapons. Just then Visoka spotted Arjun coming their way & he pointed out this to Bhima, who was relieved. Bhima then began fighting more recklessly & due to this the entire Kaurava army began to reel

Duryodhana then ordered a massive attack on Bhima, but the result was a dreadful carnage of 10 000 elephants, 100 chariot warriors & many 1000’s of foot soldiers by Bhima. He next dispatched Sakuni & his brothers and the Gāndhāra king immediately pierced Bhima deeply on the chest. Bhima responded angrily, breaking Sakuni’s bow, but after picking another one, Sakuni heroically cut down his adversary’s emblem & umbrella

At this, enraged Bhima retaliated by hurling a spear, but when it fell upon his chariot, Sakuni picked it up & threw it back, piercing thro’ the son of Vayu’s left arm. Upon beholding this wonderful feat, all Kaurava warriors roared loudly with great delight. Bhima could not tolerate this & after picking up his bow, he quickly killed Sakuni’s horses & driver. Jumping down from his chariot, Sakuni continued to shower arrows from the ground

Bhima pierced Sakuni so deeply that he fell to the ground, practically devoid of life. Duryodhana quickly came & took Sakuni on his chariot, but without a leader, the entire Kaurava army lost courage & began retreating

Meanwhile, Karna continued to slaughter Pāncāla soldiers while simultaneously afflicting all Pāndava heroes that dared to stop him. Indeed, under his protection Duryodhana, Krpa, Asvattāma, Krtavarmā & others annihilated 1000’s of enemy soldiers. When Arjun finally caught sight of Karna, he urged Sri Krsna to approach him quickly

Salya pointed out to Karna how Arjun was rapidly advancing. He urged him to fight Arjun & praised Karna very highly. Being greatly surprised, Karna remarked: O Salya, you seem to be in your proper frame of mind now, for your speech is very agreeable. Of course, it must be admitted that Krsna & Arjun are worthy of highest glorification. Sri Krsna is Vishnu himself. His glories could not be fully delineated even if all the people of the world were to go on reciting them for 10 000 years

I know that I’m the only one powerful enough to contend with these two great heroes & yet a great fear has entered my heart upon seeing them. Still, I am very eager to either kill Arjun this very day or else lay down dead upon the battlefield

We know that the Supreme Lord has the ultimate power to make things better, but we underestimate that we also have power to make things worse. Lot of time due to our limitations, we assess situations from our human conceptions either due to our overconfidence or discouragement and accordingly make things worse

Our mind plays destructive, disruptive & demoniac at times & impels us to act against us. If we stay prayerfully connected to the Supreme Lord, He can bestow to us divine protection & vision to not self-destroy but elevate us to become instruments for His plan to manifest in this world

Stay watchful!
