Unity in diversity!

Despite Karna’s conciliatory speech, Salya continued to abuse him. Finally, losing all patience, Karna interrupted & said: O King! Once at Dhritrāshtra’s palace, I overheard a Brāhmana describe despicable qualities of the Madrakas. Since you are the ruler of these abominable people, you will have to share 1/6th of their sinful reactions

As Salya began to refute Karna’s statements, Duryodhana appeared upon the scene & intervened. After stopping their argument, Duryodhana begged both to cooperate for his sake & so once again the two heroes proceeded to battlefield. While going, Salya suddenly pointed out Arjuna’s wonderful chariot & described inauspicious omens that had manifest. Salya said: O Karna, just see how your emblem trembles & your horses shake with fear. This indicates that very soon you’ll meet with defeat at the hands of your enemy

As Salya continued to glorify Arjun, the remaining 34000 Samsaptakas prepared to attack the Pāndava hero. Arjun thus turned away from Karna to meet them so that a terrible massacre of Samsaptakas took place. At the same time, Karna surrounded by his sons, continued to slaughter Pāndava & Panchal warriors so Bhima, Shikhandi, Dhrstadyumna, Sātyaki & Draupadi’s sons came & surrounded him

Bhima killed Karna’s son named Bhānusena. Then, when he proceeded to attack another son of Karna named Susena, the suta protected him by breaking Bhima’s arrows to pieces. Sātyaki smashed Vrsasena’s chariot & so Dushasana hurriedly picked up this son of Karna

Karna fought furiously & slaughtered 1000’s of soldiers. He then spotted Yudhisthira & rushed at him crushing those who tried to stand in his way. Yudhisthira challenged him & pulled his bowstring all the way back to his ear & released a mighty arrow that pierced Karna’s left side

Karna’s bow slipped from his hand as he fell unconscious, but he quickly recovered & in an instant retaliated by killing the 2 protectors of Yudhisthira’s chariot wheels. Bhima, Sātyaki & many others rushed at Karna, but as they surrounded him, he invoked a Brahmāstra that filled all directions with constant shower of arrows so that the entire Pāndava army was greatly afflicted. Taking advantage of this, Karna proceeded to break Yudhisthira’s bow & cut off his armour

After Karna destroyed the chariot, getting on to another chariot, Yudhisthira began fleeing from the battlefield, being very depressed that he was incapable of fighting Karna

Karna gave chase, desiring to capture Yudhisthira & soon caught up with him. But when Karna placed his hand on Yudhisthira’s shoulder, he suddenly remembered his promise to Kunti devi. At that crucial moment Salya warned: O Karna, you had better not to try to capture Yudhisthira, for as soon as you attempt to do so you’ll be reduced to ashes

Karna mockingly laughed & rebuked Yudhisthira–O King! You’re running away from battlefield? Are you not conversant with the duties of a kshatriya? If you feel that your life is still worth maintain, you can return to the shelter of Krsna & Arjun

Leaders recognize natural differences that exist in the team and embrace diversity. Able leaders make no discrimination between people and promote universal brotherhood. They understand the potential of individual team members as they connect with them individually. Well aware of the unique strengths as well as the development areas of individual team members, they are adept in organizing the team for tasks. Devoid of any superiority complex, they lead with agility to make the best impact
