Bigger Plan!

Sri Krsna revealed the secret of Jayadratha’s birth, saying: Dear Arjun! Jayadratha’s father is Vrddhaaksatra & when he was born, a voice from sky announced: O King! This boy will become a great Kshatriya who is worthy of your dynasty. Still, an illustrious hero will one day cut off your son’s head as he is engaged in battle. After hearing this prophecy, Vrddhaksatra became very aggrieved

After thinking over the matter deeply, Vrddha summoned all his relatives & made the following proclamation: Whoever causes my son’s head to fall to the ground while he is engaged in battle will find that his own head would break into a hundred pieces. After saying this Vrddha installed infant Jayadratha upon the royal throne & retired to the forest to perform austerities

My dear Arjun, Vrdhhaksatra is still undergoing penance not far from this battlefield, by the side of Samanta-pancaka lakes. After cutting off Jayadratha’s head, you must employ celestial arrows that will project it onto his father’s lap. If you do not perform this wonderful feat, then as soon as Jayadratha’s head touches the ground, your head will surely burst into a hundred fragments

Arjun released a dazzling arrow that he had placed upon his bowstring. After sailing magnificently through the air, that arrow plucked off Jayadratha’s head. Before the severed head could fall to the ground, Arjun released a steady stream of arrows that made it fly through the sky, all the way to the Samanta-pancaka lake

At that time Vrdhhaksatra was saying his evening prayers & thus he was sitting peacefully with his eyes closed in meditation. All of a sudden, Jayadratha’s head fell upon his lap. Due to Sri Krsna’s mystic potency, Vrddha was so absorbed in meditation that he did not feel anything. Thus, when he finished his prayers, Vrdhha stood up as usual, causing his son’s head to fall to the ground. As soon as Jayadratha’s head touched the earth, Vrdhha’s head burst into a hundred fragments, by the strength of his own austerities

Sri Krsna then withdrew His Yogamāyā potency so that the darkness was suddenly dispelled & once again the setting sun became visible. Sri Krsna jubilantly blew His Pānchajanya conch shell. When the Dhārtarāshtrā’s realized that Jayadratha had been killed with the help of Sri Krsna’s mystic power, they uttered exclamations of dismay while shedding tears of grief. Arjun then sounded his mighty Devadatta conch shell & Bhima let out a loud roar to inform Yudhisthira of Arjun’s victory

When Yudhisthira heard these combined sounds, he could understand that Arjun has succeeded in killing Jayadratha & so he became ecstatic. Indeed, the entire Pāndava army became practically intoxicated while celebrating Arjun’s triumph. In that enthusiastic state, Yudhisthira decided to lead them in an attack on Drona, even though the sun had already set

We all make plans to be productive. But when we become attached to our plan, it makes us unproductive or sometimes counterproductive. If the plans don’t work, then becoming too attached to our plans makes us resentful, hopeless and depressed

We should always be part of the Lord’s bigger plan. When we follow his directions given in Bhagvad Gita & make it part of our plan while doing things, then we are perfectly guided in execution. Sri Krsna knows well what is good for us & what not and accordingly he guides us from inside. Our plans then become productive & perfect always
