Upon witnessing the terrible death of Alamvusa , who had oppressed them so greatly, Pāndava warriors shouted with joy, waved their garments & heartily congratulated Bhima’s heroic son Ghatotkaca
Meanwhile, Drona & Satyaki battled one another.
Due to Preceptor’s incessant stream of arrows, the Yadu hero finally became so
afflicted that he lost heart & became confused about what to do next. As
Kaurava warriors roared with delight, Dhrishtadyumna & Bhima led Pāndava
army in an assault on Drona, hoping to rescue Satyaki. Drona cheerfully faced
them all, like a pious householder receiving guests. In the great fight that
followed, he killed 25 mahā-rathas amongst the Pāncalas. Indeed, he fought so
fiercely while engaged in slaughtering countless enemy soldiers that no one
dared approach him
Yudhisthira heard the blare of Sri Krsna’s Pāncajanya
conch shell, but because he was unable to hear the twang of Gāndiva bow, and because
the shouts of Kaurava warriors were distinctly audible, he practically fainted,
thinking Arjuna must have met with some grave danger
Yudhisthira went to Sātyaki & implored: Next to Sri
Krsna, you are our greatest refuge. I beg you to go & rescue Arjun. You’re
our sincerest well-wisher & Arjun’s dearest disciple. Indeed, you’re
practically equal to him in terms of skill & prowess and thus I see no one
else that can be entrusted with this great responsibility
Sātyaki replied: I’m always ready to execute your order
& I would do anything for Arjun’s sake. Still, you must consider how I was
ordered by Sri Krsna & Arjun to protect you at all costs. Indeed, it was
only with that assurance that they were willing to leave you to go & kill
Jayadratha
Dear King! Don’t think that Arjun is in a serious
difficulty, for he would be able to combat all the combined moving & non-moving
living entities within the universe if they were to attack him
Still Maharāj Yudhisthira felt very uneasy at heart
& so he insisted Sātyaki to go to Arjun’s aid, assuring him that Bhima
& the others would be sufficient to protect him from Drona. Sātyaki then
considered how even Sri Krsna & Arjun followed Yudhisthira’s command, and
so he reluctantly agreed to depart
Sātyaki first ordered his driver, Dāruka’s younger
brother, to prepare his chariot & refresh his horses
Respecting & following someone and having faith in
him, means to execute his instructions at any cost, even if the person is not
physically present. Time & again we have seen that having disregard for instructions
causes chaos, pain & defeat. Perfect example is Mother Sita disregarding
Sri Ram’s instructions to Laxman of staying with her at any cost, come what may
go. We have seen that not following the orders led to Mother Sita being
kidnapped by Ravana and subsequent pain

Do we also follow instructions of our spiritual master,
our Guru, our seniors in word & spirit?
