Anger!

Drona released torrents of arrows completely covering Arjun’s chariot. Arjun attacked Drona in return, but it soon became apparent that the Preceptor was getting the better of his disciple

Drona cut Arjun’s bowstring. Arjun quickly put a new string & began killing many of Drona’s supporting warriors, but then the preceptor pierced him very deeply in chest causing him to tremble violently. Arjun regained his composure & continued fighting but Drona still predominated

Sri Krsna said: Dear Arjun! You must keep in mind today’s main business & thus not waste time fighting with Drona. Pass him by & penetrate deeper into Kaurava ranks. Obeying Krsna’s command, Arjun left aside Drona. At this the Preceptor challenged: O son of Kunti, why are you fleeing? Come back & try to vanquish your enemy

Arjun cleverly said: You’re not my enemy, you’re my guru & so I’m not capable of vanquishing you

Saying this, Arjun continued to penetrate Kaurava ranks while the Pānchāla heroes, Yudhāmanyu & Uttamaujā followed him like a shadow, protecting his chariot wheels. Numerous Kaurava warriors rushed to check Arjun & when Drona came to support them, a very fierce battle took place. Arjun first encountered the Preceptor & then killed numerous warriors. To avoid Drona, Arjun rushed at Krtavarmā & Sudaksina, the king of Kambojas

As Arjun fiercely battled with Krtavarmā, Sri Krsna once again said: Arjun, don’t waste time in this way. Disregard your family relationship with Krtavarmā & kill him quickly without showing mercy. Arjun then launched a furious attack & caused Krtavarmā to fall unconscious. He then proceeded to counter Srutāyudha. A fierce duel ensued & Arjun killed his adversary’s horses & driver

Jumping from his chariot, Srutāyudha ran with his mace & hurled it at Sri Krsna, even though he had been warned not to do so by his father. Srutāyudha was the son of Varuna by the river Parnāsa. She had begged the Lord of the waters to benedict her son, so that he would become immune to death while engaged in battle

In reply Varuna explained to his wife how immortality was impossible within this material world. Then to satisfy her, he gave Srutāyudha a celestial mace that would enable him to vanquish all his enemies. But, while instructing his son how to employ this weapon with required mantras, Varuna warned: If this mace is ever hurled at a person not engaged in fighting, it’ll come back to kill the person who threw it

Thus, after striking Sri Krsna on the shoulder, without giving Him any pain, the celestial mace returned to smash Srutāyudha, making him fall dead to the ground

We should use anger for driving a higher purpose & not get consumed by anger itself. Hanuman used anger in the service of Sri Ram by burning Lanka & warning Ravana what is due to come.

tri-vidhaṁ narakasyedaṁ dvāraṁ nāśanam ātmanaḥ
kāmaḥ krodhas tathā lobhas tasmād etat trayaṁ tyajet

Let’s use our anger by thinking how best I can serve in this situation; else it causes our downfall
