Scared!

Abhimanyu displayed superb skill & fierce energy while attacking Drona and so the Kaurava hero, Paurava, rushed at him showering arrows. Abhimanyu retaliated by piercing Paurava’s horses & driver and then he fixed upon his bowstring a very powerful arrow that was intended for his adversary’s death

Krtavarmā broke his bow & arrow & so in a fit of rage Abhimanyu picked up his sword and shield & jumped from his chariot. After running very quickly, he jumped onto Paurava’s chariot & grabbed him by the hair. While holding Paurava, Abhimanyu killed his driver with a violent kick & cut down his emblem with his sword. He then lifted Paurava up by the hair with an intention to cut off his head, but just then Jayadratha rushed upon the scene, sword in hand

Abhimanyu released Paurava so that he could confront Jayadratha & a very dramatic duel commenced. After some intense duelling, Jayadratha’s sword happened to stick in Abhimanyu’s shield & as he was trying to remove it, it broke. Because of this, Jayadratha beat a hasty retreat & remounted his chariot. Abhimanyu also got back onto his chariot & while Jayadratha fled, he proceeded to slaughter the Kaurava soldiers

Salya hurled a spear at Abhimanyu, but the son of Subhadra leaped high into the air, caught the spear in his hands & threw it right back, killing Salya’s driver & knocking the king of Madras off his seat. The Pāndava warriors applauded Abhimanyu highly while Salya picked up his club & rushed at him. Abhimanyu also picked up his club, but with great difficulty Bhima persuaded him to stand aside

Salya was one of the very few warriors who would dare challenge Bhima with a club & thus the duel that took place between them was wonderful to behold. Bhima & Salya fought equally & when their maces collided, sparks and flashes of fire were created

Once when Bhima & Salya struck one another simultaneously, both fell to the ground at the same time. When he saw Salya practically unconscious & writhing with pain, Krtavarma quickly picked him upon his chariot & drove away. Bhima stood up, mace in hand & as he reeled like a drunken man, the Dhārtarāshtrās panicked & fled while the Pāndava warriors blew the conch shells and shouted with joy

Thereafter Karna’s son, Vrsasena, fought very valiantly as he killed innumerable Pāndava soldiers. Draupadi’s sons opposed Vrsasena & so many Kaurava warriors came to his aid. The Pāndavas came to fight alongside their sons & thus a huge battle took place. Soon the Pāndavas completely routed the Kaurava army & this was intolerable to Drona

To be brave & having the necessary skills to fight is an important aspect, but more important than bravery, we need to have the bigger purpose. If we are not aligned to a bigger purpose, then after a given point, we will be overcome with fear. We all can acquire a purpose bigger than fear by studying Bhagvad Gita and understanding that we are souls on a multi-life journey of spiritual evolution towards the Supreme Lord Krsna

We then feel empowered realizing our true self. We will not be scared of anything & will evolve to contribute in creating a better world
