Inner conscience

Hearing words of lamentation from his father Rāvan, one of his sons Trishira said-Valiant Kumbhakarna has died fighting gloriously, so don’t lament for him. You’re capable of conquering even the 3 worlds & shouldn’t grieve like a common person. You have weapons like Javelin given by Brahmā, an armor, a bow & an arrow together with chariot yoked to 1000 donkeys. Celestials & giants are indeed destroyed several times by you. You can punish Rām endowed with all such weapons anytime

I request your command to set out & eradicate your enemies in battle, as Garuda eradicates serpents. Hearing these words, Rāvan considered himself born again after being summoned by death. Brothers Devantaka, Narantaka & energetic Atikaya also rejoiced to get a chance to go to war together with Trishira

All 4 of Rāvan’s sons, whose prowess was equal to Indra, roared asserting their superiority & said-I’ll lead, I’ll lead. They could fly in sky, were skilled in all forms of magic, had humbled pride of gods & were fierce in battle. They were knowledgeable & had obtained boons. Embracing his sons, Rāvan embellished them with ornaments, blessed them profusely & sent them to battlefront. He also sent Mahodara & Mahaparshva, his brothers, for defense of his sons. All paid obeisance circumambulating him & departed. They were about to embrace their destiny

Mahodara ascended an elephant Sudarshan (born in Airavata race) & was adorned with quivers & armor. Trishira mounted an exquisite chariot yoked to excellent horses. Atikaya too rode similar chariot & was loaded with missiles, swords & maces. Narantaka mounted a gigantic horse (similar to Uchhishrava) & held a javelin resplendent like a meteor, Devantaka held a glided iron bar marching ahead of others. Mahaparshva wielded a mace & they all looked like Meru Mountain, in all glory

As these distinguished demons set out from Lankā, other mighty demons accompanied them holding excellent weaponry, riding horses, elephants & chariots, making sound of rumbling clouds. The diadems wore by princes shown like glowing planets in sky. They were determined to either die or vanquish their enemies. Earth trembled with war cry, clapping arms & their lion like roars

Our inner conscience guides us to tread a path of principles. It escorts us during our life journey and is like a map which shows us way, subconsciously shaping our choices. This inner map comprises of values that characterize us & purposes that motivate us. Rāvan after losing his brother Kumbha was depressed and it should have led to analysis of his future decision. The disorienting experience he had should have become an opportunity to align his inner map with reality but instead his false ego took over taking him away from truth

At work or in personal lives, we also face the same situation when we are in dilemma to act or reorient, in such scenario scriptural wisdom comes to our rescue or we are left disoriented to doom
