Fall down!

When Sri Krsna came in between Arjun & the Vaishnava weapon hurled by Bhagadatta, Arjun was very unhappy. He said: O Krsna, You should remember Your vow of not taking part in this battle, at least for as long as I’m competent to defend myself


Sri Krsna narrated a very confidential history: O son of Kunti, I exist within this universe in 4 forms-Garbhodakasayi Vishnu who lies upon the great ocean, the all-pervading Supreme Soul who witnesses everything, Narayana Rsi who continually engages in performing austerities & My incarnation within human society


While lying in the mystic slumber known as Yoga-nidra upon the water of Garbhodaka ocean, when I wake after 1000 yugas, I'm inclined to award benedictions to those who deserve them. Once the goddess presiding over earth approached Me at that time & said: Lord! I’ve come here to beg for a benediction on behalf of my son Naraka. Pls give him Vaishnava weapon so he'll not be slain by any demigod or demon. I replied: Dear Bhumi! I’ll give the weapon to your son & as long as he possesses it, he’ll be invincible


Dear Arjun: Bhagadatta received Vaishnava weapon from Naraka. There is no one in existence who can escape with his life when the terrible weapon is invoked against him. It is for that reason I violated My promise by neutralizing Vaishnava weapon for your sake. Now you must kill Bhagadatta, just as I formerly killed Naraka for welfare of this world


Encouraged by Sri Krsna, Arjun proceeded to overwhelm Bhagadatta with his arrows & violently pierced his elephant in the forehead. Although Bhagadatta still tried to goad it, the colossal elephant could no longer obey its master’s commands & instead fell to ground, piercing it with its sharp tusks. Taking advantage of this, Arjun quickly struck Bhagadatta in chest with a powerful arrow, causing the great heroic warrior to fall dead from the back of his slain carrier


Arjun went & respectfully circumambulated Bhagadatta’s dead body. Seeing mighty Bhagadatta dead, Kaurava warriors were shocked in disbelief & were very scared


When the Supreme Lord protects, who can cause even a slightest harm. Arjun was thus protected from all evils


Sri Krsna proclaims:

kṣipraṁ bhavati dharmātmā śaśvac-chāntiṁ nigacchati

kaunteya pratijānīhi na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati


He quickly becomes righteous & attains lasting peace. O son of Kuntī, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes


A devotee who is engaged in nine kinds of devotional activities is engaged in the process of cleansing all material contamination from the heart. He puts the Supreme Lord, Krsna within his heart & all sinful contaminations are naturally washed away


Continuous thinking of Krsna makes him pure by nature. The purifying process is there in the heart of the devotee, due to his remembering the Supreme Personality of Godhead constantly. This will protect him from all accidental fall downs. He will thus remain perpetually free from all material contaminations

  Principles to fight & die for! Arjun had Uttara halt his chariot at some distance from Kaurav army to survey the opposition. He thought that if he could simply vanquish Duryodhana, other Kauravas would automatically desist. But he noted that Duryodhana was absent.
