Evil!
At Kurukshetra, after Bhisma’s fall, the Kauravas felt like they were sinking in an ocean of helplessness. But, when they remembered Karna, they took shelter of him like a drowning man takes refuge of a boat. Karna was very eager to display his prowess to rescue the Kauravas from their plight
He approached Duryodhana & said: Pls give up your grief, for I’m prepared to fight to my utmost ability. Dear Duryodhana, for your sake I promise to either kill all Pandavas or else lie down dead upon battlefield. Karna’s confident & chivalrous words enlivened Kaurava warriors
Duryodhana said: Karna, you are our only shelter. Pls give us directions so that we can understand how to proceed
Karna said: You should give orders. After all, no one can better understand what should be done in a particular situation than the person whose direct concern it is
Duryodhana said: Our first concern is to select a commander-in-chief to replace Bhisma. Kindly advise me in this regard
Karna said: Dronācharya is the most experienced warrior amongst us & he is our worshipful preceptor. Therefore, he should be implored to take command of our army
Duryodhana went & very respectfully requested Dronācharya to accept the post. When the Preceptor agreed, all Kaurava warriors shouted with delight. Drona then said: O King! I’ll gladly take command of your army, but I’ll never be able to kill Dhrishtadyumna, for he has been created for my destruction
Thereafter, Drona was formally appointed as commander in chief with performance of proper rituals. At completion of ceremony, Drona said: Dear Duryodhana, I request you to ask for a benediction in return for the great honor you have showed me
Duryodhana consulted Karna, Duhsasana & Sakuni & then requested: Dear Preceptor, pls capture Yudhisthira & bring to me alive. This is the boon I desire. With great surprise Drona asked: Why do you want Yudhisthira to be captured & not killed? It appears to me that Pāndava ruler truly deserves the name Ajatsatru (one who does not have any enemy), for even you do not wish to see him slain
Even greatly intelligent Brihaspati cannot fully conceal his mind & heart. Indeed no one can completely avoid revealing his true feelings by his facial expressions, and so what to speak of Duryodhana, who said gleefully: If we were to kill Yudhisthira, other Pandavas would become so enraged that they would certainly kill us all in retaliation. But, if truthful Yudhisthira is captured, we can make him play dice & once again banish him to the forest for another period of exile
Evil intentions gain expected results of fall & destruction. When we become disconnected from the Supreme Lord & use our free will to seek ungodly pleasures, that’s when our slide to evil begins. By repeated indulgence, evil becomes eviler & it’s incredible perverting power destroys us. Shockingly the perpetrator does not even feel bad about doing such things
Let’s strive to reclaim our spiritual entity
