Evolution!
As Alambusa created 2000 fierce illusory Rāksasas who charged at Irāvān, but were killed by Irāvān's soldiers. Alambusa then rushed at Arjuna’s son. Irāvān cut his bow in half & so to protect himself, the Rāksasā rose in the sky
Irāvān, who was able to change his form at will, also flew in air & began cutting Alambusa’s limbs to pieces. By his mystic power, Alambusa was able to make his body whole once again, but Irāvān continued to hack away at him with an axe while roaring deafeningly. As torrents of blood flowed from Alambusa’s body, he assumed a more colossal form
At that time a Nāga relative of Irāvān’s mother came & along with other gigantic Nāgās, completely covered Alambusa’s body. At this Alambusa took form of Garuda & quickly devoured all the snakes. Seeing this setback, Irāvān became momentarily bewildered. Taking advantage of this lapse, Alambusa quickly rushed with sword in hand & severed his head
When Ghatotkaca saw Irāvān killed, he roared so ferociously that most of Kaurava warriors trembled with fear & began running away. Ghatotkaca assumed a terrifying form & along with numerous other Rāksasās, attacked the fleeing army. Upon seeing how his soldiers were about to be exterminated, Duryodhana came to oppose along with 10000 elephants
Infuriated Rāksasā army soon destroyed all these elephants & so Duryodhana impetuously rushed at the enemy to retaliate. As he engaged in slaughtering a large number of Rāksasās, Ghatotkaca became even more enraged. Charging at Duryodhana wielding his bow, Bhimā’s son vowed to take revenge
Ghatotkaca showered numerous arrows upon Duryodhana, who also pierced him in return. He then picked up a fierce dart, desiring to kill Duryodhana outright. Bhagadatta saw great danger & quickly placed his gigantic elephant in front of Kaurava king’s chariot. Seeing how Duryodhana had become covered from his view, enraged Ghatotkaca hurled the dart anyway, killing colossal elephant. While Bhagadatta jumped safely to ground, all Kaurava soldiers panicked & fled
Hearing Ghatotkaca fierce shouts Bhisma could understand that he was fighting with Duryodhana. He then ordered many chariot warriors to come to Duryodhana’s aid. Thus Drona, Krpā, Asvatthāma, Jayadratha, Bhurisrāva, Somadatta & Salya staged a massive attack. And yet, Ghatotkaca stood firm, bow in hand. A terrible battle took place between Rāksasās & Kauravas
Bravery is not the absence of fear but is aligning with a purpose bigger than fear. We all face situations which overwhelm us, making us fearful to act. But if we acquire purpose which is bigger than fear, it can drive us to perform in worst of times
Gita’s wisdom gives us that purpose explaining that we are souls (& not this body) on a multi life journey of spiritual evolution towards Krsna, the all attractive Supreme Personality of Godhead. Every situation even if it looks scary is a step towards that realization. To evolve & contribute to create a better world
