Leader!

As Sri Krsna declared that he would invoke His Sudarsana cakra, he cast aside the reins of Arjun’s chariot & jumped to ground. As He whirled the blazing Sudarsana cakra in His right hand, entire earth trembled with His terrible strides. He rushed at Bhisma like a ferocious lion charging an elephant. With His yellow garments waving in the breeze, Krsna looked like a dark monsoon cloud adorned with lightening

The dazzling Sudarsana cakra whirling in Sri Krsna’s lotus-like hand looked like a lotus flower growing from the lake of Krsna’s dark blue body. Upon seeing Krsna’s ferocious feature & hearing His loud roars, warriors on both sides became convinced that extermination of Kurus is at hand

Meanwhile, Bhisma stood fearlessly with folded hands & prayed: My dear Lord, please come & throw me down from my chariot. Being killed by You, I will attain the most exalted destination

Sri Krsna declared while rushing forward: O Bhisma, you are the real cause of this terrible massacre, because it is the duty of a minister to restrain an evil king

Bhisma said: Dear Lord, just as You had tried to instruct Dhritrāshtra, I also begged him to restrain his son, but to no avail

Meanwhile, Arjun had jumped from his chariot. After chasing Sri Krsna, he was finally able to grab His hands. Krsna was so enraged, however, that He continued to drag Arjun towards Bhisma while running. Arjun then seized Krsna by the legs

By stopping Krsna in this way, Arjun implored: Dear Lord, Pls give up Your anger. I promise to fulfill my vow by annihilating all Kurus without further hesitation. Upon hearing this, Krsna became pacified & immediately turned back and remounted Arjun’s chariot. After picking up the reins, Sri Krsna blew His mighty Pāncajanya conch shell & the entire sky became filled with its awesome vibration

Thereafter, all the Kuru heroes rushed at Arjun, showering torrents of arrows. Arjun counteracted all these arrows & then invoked an awesome Mahendra weapon. As a result, torrential showers of blazing arrows were released, checking entire Kaurava army. The Kaurava soldiers became very fearful while seeing their companions slaughtered in great numbers & while repeatedly hearing the twang of the Gāndiva bow above the awful din of battle

Due to the great massacre, a ghastly river of blood, fat & marrow was created. A terrible dread entered the hearts of Kauravas as Pāndava warriors applauded Arjuna’s blazing prowess

As the influence of Mahendra weapon continued to spread over battlefield, creating a scene that resembled destruction of the universe, Bhisma, Drona & Duryodhana decided to withdraw the army for the day. The sun was setting & so the Pāndavas also retired. That night, Arjun was glorified even in the Kaurava camp, for he had slain 10 000 chariot warriors & 700 elephants during the course of the day

To wake up & realize the potential of a member, the leader must take drastic measures to make him realize the purpose of assignment at hand and his abilities, competence & talent to achieve glories. We may be blind to our own skills and our attitude could be failing the big occasion, but the leader knows best of bringing to the fore the strengths of members at the right time, place & circumstances
