Strategic!
Yudhisthira paid his obeisances to Dronācharya & said: Dear preceptor, pls grant me permission to fight with you & kindly reveal how my enemies can be vanquished
Dronācharya said: If you hadn’t approached me before fighting, I would surely have cursed you. I'm now pleased & request you to ask for benediction. Pls understand that it was because I had accepted wealth from Kauravas that I was obligated to take their side
Yudhisthira requested: Pls tell me how you can be killed in this battle
Dronācharya said: As long as I continue fighting there is no one who can vanquish me. Only if I put down my weapons & engage in meditation will I be defeated. I predict that this will happen when I hear some disagreeable words from a man of credible speech
After hearing this Maharāj Yudhisthira once again offered respects to Dronācharya & then proceeded towards Krpācharya, paid respects to his former teacher & solicited his permission to fight
Krpācharya said: If you had gone ahead & fought without first worshipping me like this, I would have cursed you for your utter defeat, but now I'm pleased with you & wish you for your victory. I'll also give you a benediction, except that I take your side, for I'm obliged to fight with Kauravas
Yudhisthira became so overwhelmed by emotion that by uttering a few faltering words, stood speechless in front of Krpācharya. The great Brāhmana warrior knew of his intentions & said: I'm incapable of being killed in battle. Still, I shall pray for your victory upon arising each morning
Yudhisthira next went to see his uncle Salya. When he paid respects & begged for permission to fight, Salya also replied that he would have cursed him if he hadn't done so. He also explained his dependence upon Duryodhana & then offered Yudhisthira a benediction. Yudhisthira requested him to always think of his welfare & reminded him of his promise to discourage Karna. Salya assured that he would help Yudhisthira attain victory
Pāndavās then returned to their army
At that time Sri Krsna went to Karna & said: O son of Surya, since you've put down your weapons out of hatred for Bhisma, why not come & fight for Pāndavās? After Bhisma is killed, you can return to Kaurava side, thus keeping your promise to Duryodhana intact
Karna said: I'll never do anything disagreeable to Duryodhana. Seeing his determination, Sri Krsna desisted from arguing any further
Yudhisthira stepped forward & loudly announced to all opposing warriors: Great heroes, if any of you would like to change sides before fighting begins, I'll happily accept you
Yuyutsu responded to the call & came towards Pāndavās
Genuine emotions can play a strategic role in finding a way to achieve a higher purpose. Emotions to serve elevates & disbands the most impossible targets. But if our emotions are for own sense gratification, then it drags our consciousness to a lower level & weakens us
Let’s utilize our emotions to serve the Supreme & His purpose
