Dharma-Yuddha!

Maharāj Yudhisthira put on his golden armor as all kings applauded him highly for his exemplary behavior of having offered due respects to his superiors

After all the warriors had mounted their chariots, the call of the battle was given. In response to Duryodhana’s command, all kings on Kaurava side rushed towards Pāndava army to fight. Similarly in response to Yudhisthira’s order, all the kings in the Pāndava army went to encounter the Kauravas, and no one turned his face from battle

The shouts of the soldiers, the twanging of bowstrings, the tread of infantry, the furious sounds of horses, the clash of weapons, the clamor of elephants rushing against one another, and the clatter of chariots mingled to produce a loud uproar, causing everyone’s hair to stand on the end. And yet Bhima’s loud roars could be heard above all this. Indeed, that terrible vibration caused a great fear to enter the hearts of all Kaurava warriors & made their horses & elephants pass stool and urine

Thereafter, when the 2 armies met, a dust cloud rose into the sky, creating dense darkness. The fighting became so fierce that it was difficult to distinguish one side from the other. Bhisma rushed to Arjun, wielding a bow that resembled the rod of death. Arjun, with his Gāndiva bow, rushed to meet Bhisma. However, despite piercing Arjuna’s body with innumerable arrows, Bhisma could not make him waver, nor could Arjun make Santanu’s son falter

Sātyaki rushed to Krtvarmā, filling him full of arrows. Krtvarmā counter attacked by covering Sātyaki with so many arrows that he soon resembled a porcupine. The mighty bowman, Abhimanyu, battled with Brhadbala, the king of Kausala. Brhadbala managed to cut down the flag of Subhadra’s son’s chariot & then kill his driver. At this, Abhimanyu angrily retaliated by piercing Brhadbala with nine arrows. Then, with two more, Abhimanyu knocked down his adversary’s flag & killed his driver

Bhima & Duryodhana fought furiously, so that both soon became covered with hundreds of arrows

Lot of people ask question-Why war takes place? It's not a very difficult subject to understand because each one of us has got a fighting spirit. Even children fight, cats & dogs fight, birds fight, ants fight. So why not human beings? The fighting spirit is there. That is one of the symptoms of living condition, is to Fight

So, the question is when that fighting should take place? We can see that due to ambitious politicians, there is fighting. But fighting, according to Vedic civilization, means dharma-yuddha. This means that fight happens only on religious principles & not by whims of political ideas or any ism

Even if we have to fight we have to do it in Krsna consciousness. Nirbandha-kṛṣṇa-sambandhe, Whatever we do, it must be done for the satisfaction of Krsna. Like Arjun & Pandavas are doing here
