Patience!


When Drupada heard from Shikhandi about what had happened (of her becoming a male with blessings of Yaksa), he was relieved of his terrible anxiety. He quickly sent a messenger to Hiranyavarman, who was advancing towards his city along with his army. Drupada informed him that the rumor that your son-in-law is a female is a preposterous lie! I can assure you that he is 100% male. Pls send some trusted persons & ascertain the truth for yourself


When Hiranyavarman received this message, he dispatched some young girls to go & find out the sexual status of Sikhandi. Thereafter, when these girls returned & joyfully informed him that Sikhandi was a powerful male, Hiranyavarman felt highly relieved. He went to Drupada to make amends & two kings happily passed a number of days together


Hiranyavarman gave Sikhandi many valuable presents & at last after strongly rebuking his daughter, departed for his kingdom.

Meanwhile, Kuvera happened to come to the forest to pay Yaksa Sthunakarna a visit. Upon arriving at Yaksa's residence, Kuvera was surprised to see that it was nicely decorated with flowers & perfumed with sweet scents


When Sthunakarna failed to come & receive him, Kuvera became enraged at this negligence and informed his followers that he should be punished. Some other Yaksas residing there came to Kuvera & explained: Lord, for some reason Sthunakarna transferred his masculinity to Drupada's daughter & accepted her femininity in return. Being ashamed of his female form, he has not come to receive you


Kuvera angrily ordered: Bring Sthunakama here so that I can punish him! Thereafter, when ashamed Sthunakarna came & stood before Kuvera in his female form, the Lord of wealth cursed him, saying: Because of the disgrace you have brought upon Yaksa race, you’ll always remain a woman, while Sikhandi remains a man. The Yaksas begged Kuvera to prescribe some time limit for this curse. At last, he conceded: When Sikhandi dies Sthunakarna will regain his masculinity


Kuvera departed & soon Sikhandi came to Yaksa to return his masculinity as was previously agreed upon. Sthunakarna was very pleased by Sikhandi's honesty & explained how Kuvera had cursed him. Yaksa considered the misfortune that had befallen him to be inevitable by the will of Destiny. Thus, despite his setback, Sthunakarna cheerfully wished Sikhandi well. When Sikhandi returned with his masculinity intact, Drupada was very pleased


What is music to one’s ears is lamentation for other. But we should all be patient enough to accept the will of destiny. Sri Krsna says in Gita:


mātrā-sparśās tu kaunteya śītoṣṇa-sukha-duḥkha-dāḥ

āgamāpāyino ’nityās tāṁs titikṣasva bhārata


O son of Kuntī, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons. They arise from sense perception, O scion of Bharata, and one must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed

  Krsna’s plan!   As Asvattāma asked Krpa about what happened to his father Drona, with great anguish Krpa said: My dear Asvattāma, your father was killed by Dhrishtadyumna. Knowing Drona to be invincible as long as he would wield his weapons, Sri Krsna ordered Yudhisthira to falsely inform him of your death.
