Execute!
As the Pāndav army left for Kurukshetra, King Yudhisthira was kept in the center. Accompanying Pāndav army were numerous vehicles carrying animal food. tents, cows, physicians, servants & wealth. While going along the road, this huge procession made a roaring sound, like the ocean
Thereafter, as Pāndav army approached Kurukshetra, all the warriors, including Sri Krsna & Arjuna, blew their conch shells so that the tumultuous sound increased their joy. Yudhisthira ordered his soldiers to set up camp on a grassy plain by the side of Hiranvati river, avoiding cemeteries, sages' hermitages, temples & other sacred places
Upon their arrival there, the outpost guards' belonging to Duryodhana fled in fear. Satyaki measured the ground & assigned plots for setting up tents while Sri Krsna personally engineered a moat to surround the camp. Thus,1000’s of pavilions, appearing more like great palaces, were soon erected by hundreds of engineers & then filled with all kinds of food, drink and other enjoyable articles
Yudhisthira approached Krsna & requested: Dear Lord, please give me further directions about how to prepare for upcoming war. I'm also very eager to hear more of what was said by the Kurus in the royal assembly at Hastināpur
Krsna said: When Duryodhana rejected My good advice & when I saw that Bhisma, Drona & the rest were determined to follow him no matter what, I could understand that there was nothing more to be said. I concluded that war was inevitable, for I was unwilling to settle for peace at the expense of your prosperity. Pls go about arranging the army & abandon doubts about necessity of this war
Yudhisthira obediently began to ready his army, but while doing so he became very distressed at the thought of impending slaughter. At last, in the presence of his brothers, he exclaimed: Oh! All trouble that I underwent to fulfill my vow of exile has now proved utterly useless! Instead of getting back my kingdom & living happily I face an even more miserable situation, for I’ll have to fight with my relatives & superiors
Arjuna said: Brother, you should have faith that, since this war has been sanctioned by both our mother & Sri Krsna, it cannot be sinful. Pls stop lamenting & give up your foolish hopes of withdrawing from fight
Sri Krsna confirmed this, saying: O King, there is no turning back now, for our minds have been made up
Krsna says in Gita
sva-dharmam api cāvekṣya na vikampitum arhasi
dharmyād dhi yuddhāc chreyo ’nyat kṣatriyasya na vidyate
Considering your specific duty as a kṣatriya, you should know that there is no better engagement for you than fighting on religious principles and so there is no need for hesitation
We all have specific duties to execute based on our engagement (varnashrama dharma). We can’t neglect our responsibilities if it's execution is to protect Dharma. If we defer, then we invite infamy & destruction
Majority of the malaise prevalent in our society is due to this
