Never perishes!

Duryodhana said to Sri Krsna: You should not treat me like this. There has never been any enmity between us & we are connected by family ties. Therefore, You should accept my friendly dealings irrespective of whether Your mission comes out successful or not. Your refusal to accept my dinner invitation, doesn’t befit Your magnanimous reputation

Krsna frankly explained: You have never inspired love in Me. Truthfully speaking, I despise the fact that you’ve envied Pandavas ever since your childhood. One who hates Pandavas hates Me & one who loves them loves Me. One who desires to harm a virtuous person due to greed & envy is the vilest of all men & he doesn’t deserve to prosper for long. All the food that you intend to offer Me is contaminated by your wickedness & thus unfit for Me to accept. I find only Vidura’s food relishable

After saying this to Duryodhana, who was incapable of tolerating the fact that he could not get his own way, Krsna left the assembly for Vidura’s house. Many of the Kurus, headed by Bhisma, Drona & Krpa, also came to Vidura’s residence to offer Krsna the use of their palaces & possessions. Lord Krsna expressed His gratitude for these offers

Vidura entertained the Lord very nicely with everything at his disposal & Kunti-devi provided Him sumptuous food. Krsna first fed the brahmanas. Only after giving food to His attendants did the Lord accept His meal

That evening, as he sat with Krsna, Vidura said: Dear Lord! I think it was not wise for You to come to Hastinapur. Because of the nasty behavior, I’m sure Duryodhana will offend You. He is the kind of person who insults all others, while expecting great honor for himself. He disobeys his elders, is always suspicious, ungrateful & uncontrolled, and he is by nature attracted to sinful activities

Therefore, I’m sure that even though You may speak for Duryodhana’s benefit he’ll never accept a peaceful settlement, for he has great faith in his own prowess & that of the other Kuru warriors. I know that he has already decided not to give Pandavas back their kingdom. You should not waste Your time trying to talk to him

Dear Lord, it isn’t even proper for You to enter an assembly of puffed-up fools who think they’re capable of defeating Indra & all demigods. Duryodhana is confident of victory because he thinks that Pāndavās are not even capable of looking at Bhisma, Drona & Krpa, and so what to speak of fighting with them. Indeed, he thinks that Karna alone can vanquish entire Pāndava army. He now rules practically entire earth & thus feels secure & unrivaled. He will not be willing to make even the slightest concession

Krsna says:

kṣipraṁ bhavati dharmātmā śaśvac-chāntiṁ nigacchati
kaunteya pratijānīhi na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati

My devotee quickly becomes righteous & attains lasting peace. O son of Kuntī, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes

Here the Supreme Lord is on the side of his devotees (Pāndavās) and has even come as a messenger for them. Despite all odds stacked against the Pāndavās, He would never desert them & will always protect them at any cost

Do we have such faith?
