Blame self or others!

Duryodhana further replied to Sri Krsna: Even if all the Kurus were killed in battle, that would be glorious. A heroic death on battlefield awards one eternal residence in heaven. It is the duty of a Kshatriya to lay down his life on battlefield rather than bow down to his enemies. I will never return the half of the Kuru kingdom my father formerly gave Pāndavās-not as long as I live! In fact, I’m not even willing to give the Pāndavās the land that can be PIERCED BY THE SHARP POINT OF A NEEDLE!

After this arrogant statement was made, there was a tense silence in the royal assembly. Sri Krsna, whose eyes were distinctly red with anger, said: O Duryodhana! I can positively assure you that all the Kurus will very soon lay down their lives in battle. You claim that you are faultless, but it was due to enviousness of the Pāndavās superior prosperity, that you conspired with Sakuni to cheat them out of their kingdom

Don’t you remember how you had Draupadi dragged into the assembly of Kurus so that she could be abused with vile & cruel language? The words you said at that time can only be spoken by a person who is totally despicable & heartless. Don’t you remember how you repeatedly tried to murder Pāndavās in their youth?

You may not be willing to voluntarily give the sons of Pāndu back their rightful share of the kingdom, but you’ll be forced to do so anyway when you lie down dead on the battlefield!

Dushasana said: My dear elder brother, if you don’t voluntarily make peace with Pāndavās, all the elderly Kurus will surely bind you & hand over to Yudhisthira for necessary action!

Duryodhana was already breathing heavily due to repressed anger. After hearing this remark, he suddenly got up from his seat & stormed out of the assembly. Many ran after him, causing a mass exodus. At this time Bhisma told Krsna: My dear Lord, I predict that all these misguided people will soon meet with doom!

Sri Krsna spoke to all those remaining: Dear Kings! If you don’t restrain Duryodhana, it will be a second grievous transgression on your part. Indeed, you should capture the Kaurava king & bind him for the good of all concerned. I killed Kamsa for the benefit of the entire dynasty after he disregarded his father, Ugrasena. Now similar action should be taken in this case. You should arrest Duryodhana & hand him over to the Pāndavās

Under sway of uncontrolled mind driven by sense gratification, when we don’t understand our thoughts & act as if we are faultless and only others are committing grave offenses in stopping us, it is due to skewed understanding of Dharma

Not reading scriptures and learning the subtleties of what we should do & why, leads us into being illusioned & believe that what we are doing is the only correct way

Here Duryodhana is justifying his actions & putting all blame on Pāndavās. We need to be responsible & our actions should be as per dharmic injunctions, else we are surely inviting destruction
