What forces us?

Sanjay relayed Arjun's message to all Kurus, who said: My Gāndiva bow is yawning without even being touched & my arrows are eagerly coming out of their quivers of their own accord to destroy Duryodhana & his likes. My sword is restlessly coming out from its sheath & the ferocious creatures on my flagstaff are urging me to yoke my chariot without further delay

Bhisma turned to Duryodhana & said: Pls listen to what I’ve to say. Sri Krsna has appeared on earth on behalf of demigods & Arjun is born to assist Him. For benefitting Indra, Arjun has already killed innumerable Daityās & Dānavās. Indeed, Sri Krsna & Arjun together, can't be defeated by all demigods & demons combined. I can assure you that if you don’t heed Krsna’s advice, you & all your brothers will be annihilated. You should make peace with Pāndavās. Except for Dushasana, Sakuni & low-born Karna, no one shares hostile attitude towards them

Hearing this Karna felt highly offended & angrily said: O Grandsire! I’ve always acted as a perfect Kshatriya. Why're you so inclined to criticize me? Why should Duryodhana beg for peace? Which wise king would try to make peace with those whom he had previously injured? There is no need for Duryodhana to fear a war with Pāndavās, for I’m prepared to kill them all single-handedly

Bhisma turned to Dhritrāshtra & said: Even though Karna boasts like this, he is not even equal to 1/16th the Pāndavās. Was not Karna present when Arjun defeated all Kurus & took away their clothes? If you rely upon Karna’s strength, you’re surely doomed

Drona added: O King! You should accept Bhisma’s words, for he is speaking without any motive. Don’t take advice of those who are greedy for wealth & fame

And yet, even though Bhisma & Drona implored him for peace, Dhritrāshtra didn't seem to pay any attention to them & requested Sanjay: Pls tell me what arrangements Pāndavās are making for war. In their camp, who is advocating peace & who is in favor of fighting?

When those who wished for peace saw how Dhritrāshtra didn't even bother to reply to Drona & Bhisma, they gave up all hope. Sanjay also became depressed upon seeing this indifference & sighed heavily. Then suddenly Sanjay fainted to the floor for no apparent reason

However unpalatable the truth is, if we flee from it, we will sentence ourselves to impending destruction

In Gita Arjun asks Sri Krsna:

atha kena prayukto ’yaṁ pāpaṁ carati pūruṣaḥ

anicchann api vārṣṇeya balād iva niyojitaḥ

O descendant of Vṛṣṇi, by what is one impelled to sinful acts, even unwillingly, as if engaged by force?

Sri Bhagvan says:

kāma eṣa krodha eṣa rajo-guṇa-samudbhavaḥ

mahāśano mahā-pāpmā viddhy enam iha vairiṇam

It is lust only, Arjuna, which is born of contact with the material mode of passion and later transformed into wrath, and which is the all-devouring sinful enemy of this world

Are we paying heed? Does lust take us over? & it all starts with our desire to enjoy!
