Fog!

Vidura told another story to assembled Kings: Once I had accompanied a party of hunters & brāhmanās to the north. We came to Gandhamādan mountain, the abode of Sidhhas & Gandharvas. They were surprised to see a jar of bright golden honey perched upon a precipice, carefully guarded by a ferocious & poisonous snake. The brāhmanās informed us that this was not ordinary honey, but Kuvera’s favorite drink. If any mortal would drink it, he would become immortal

If a blind man would drink it, his vision is restored & if an old man drinks it, he will regain his youth. Hearing this, the hunters became very anxious to get the honey, but when they tried to forcibly take it, the poisonous snake killed them all. My dear Dhritrāshtra, your greedy son can see the honey, but he fails to perceive danger that awaits him. You should take Yudhisthira upon your lap & make peace with him, instead of catering to Duryodhana’s whims

Dhritrāshtra told Duryodhana: Son! You’re just like an ignorant traveler who thinks wrong path is the correct one. Your attempt to fight with Bhima will be like a tree trying to combat a hurricane. Pls listen to good advice that Bhisma, Drona & I are trying to give you. Arjun alone vanquished all Kurus when they attacked Virāta’s kingdom. How can you expect to defeat Pāndavās when they’re united in the battlefield? Pls give up our enmity towards your cousins. Treat them as brothers & share the kingdom with them

Turning to Sanjay Dhritrāshtra said: Did Arjun say anything after Lord Krsna delivered His message?

Sanjay said: Yes. When Lord Krsna finished speaking, Arjun requested me to relay his message as well. He first offered his obeisances to all the distinguished kings who’ve assembled here

He said: Dear rulers of earth, you should know for certain that Duryodhana has brought you to his military camp so that you can give up your lives. Pls relate this message to the wicked & envious fool Duryodhana, while he is seated in the midst of assembled kings: You must give back Yudhisthira his share of the kingdom, or else I will send you & your brothers to the abode of Yamarāja

Duryodhana hardly paid attention to Sanjay’s words!

Krsna says in Gita

jñānena tu tad ajñānaṁ yeṣāṁ nāśitam ātmanaḥ

teṣām āditya-vaj jñānaṁ prakāśayati tat param

When, however, one is enlightened with the knowledge by which nescience is destroyed, then his knowledge reveals everything, as the sun lights up everything in the daytime

External fog blinds our external vision & leads to accidents. We need to wait for the fog to dissipate before we again start driving. Similarly emotional fogs blind us internally and our inner world becomes crowded & clouded. We then are left paralyzed & our intelligence is deluded

Let’s invoke the Sun of spiritual wisdom to dissipate this fog
