Fearless😎 or Frivolous🤒!

Vidura said to Dhritrāshtra: I hope that your illustrious family doesn’t become degraded⏬ by its members’ sinful behavior

Hearing this Dhritrāshtra admitted: I’m convinced that my sons will be exterminated if they fight Pāndavās. I allowed pious Yudhisthira to be cheated by my wicked🖤 sons, & because of the great danger at hand, my mind is filled with anxiety. Say something which can dispel my fears😨

Vidura replied: Brother! If you actually desire your own welfare then your only refuge is knowledge, austerity, self-control & abandonment of greed. Fear can be dispelled by knowledge of self-realization & peace can be attained by renunciation of desires of sense gratification🤳. Remember how, at the time when Draupadi was won by Sakuni, I’d warned you to restrain your son. You disregarded my advice, however, as it is because of this negligence that you’re now suffering

The only remedy is to control your wicked son & make peace🕊️with Maharāj Yudhisthira. How can you expect to be peaceful & happy😀 if you create enmity with Pāndavās. Thereby bringing destruction close at hand?

You may be interested to know that there are 17 classes of foolish human beings created by Svāyambhuva Manu. Efforts of such fools always end in nothing, just like one who strikes his fist against the air, or one who tries to bend a rainbow, or one who attempts to catch the sunrays. Amongst these fools are those born in high families but addicted to sinful activities, those who boast of their abilities & accomplishments, those who’re hostile towards persons more powerful than themselves & those who always try for things that are unattainable

In this way Vidura expertly pointed out Dhritrāshtra’s foolishness. The blind king asked: Dear brother, even though human beings are supposedly allotted 100 years to live, why is it generally seen that they die earlier?

Vidura said: Excessive pride, over-eating, anger😠, too much lust❤️‍🔥 for sense gratification, talkativeness & family dissension-these are six sharp swords⚔️that cuts short one’s duration of life

There are plenty of flatterers available, but rare is the person who will speak medicinal words, even if they are unpleasant

We may appear fearless😎 in our eyes by doing things which otherwise are not advisable but it’s a façade🎭 for foolishness. If we are not following our Dharma, our responsibility, our duties and make excuses under a garb of weakness, or recklessness or fearlessness, it’s a very dangerous proposition

To identify when we are on a wrong path, we should ask what we are doing & why? When we do our essential duties and face danger but still persevere, we are fearless and that is required. But if we recklessly rush into danger to fulfill our lower frivolous desires, those unscrupulous schemes would end in our destruction💣

Let’s not be brainless & at the end be lifeless😵
