Sin Vs Sinner!
Karna attacked Arjun twanging his bow menacingly, who challenged him: O Suta’s son, you shall now reap bitter fruit of your wicked behavior towards my brothers & Draupadi
Karna countered: You’re simply boasting. What is the value of words spoken by one who is about to die? Arjun said: Who else but you dare to brag after witnessing death of your younger brother & running away from battlefield?
Saying this Arjun charged & released torrents of arrows. Karna responded with shower of arrows, but Arjun severed the strap holding his quiver. In retaliation Karna pierced Arjun’s hand holding Gandiva bow, making him momentarily loosen grip, but he quickly recovered to break Karna’s bow into fragments
Arjun dispatched all soldiers who came to help Karna, to Yamarāja's abode. He then killed Karna’s horses & after loosening Karna’s armor, pierced him in chest with a mighty arrow, making him momentarily fall unconscious. When he recovered, Karna felt so much pain that he left battle, while being derided by Arjun & Uttara
At last Arjun approached Bhisma & cut down his flagpole. Dushashana, Vikarna, Duhsaha & Vivingsati surrounded Arjun. Within moments Arjun broke Dushasana’s bow, pierced his chest with 5 arrows, making him turn his back & flee. When Vikarna attacked, Arjun pierced him in his forehead causing him to fall unconscious & similar fate awaited other two warriors
Thereafter all Kaurav chariot warriors staged a massive assault on Arjun, but battlefield soon became strewn with their mangled bodies. Soon Kaurav army became so dispirited that they fled the scene of battle. River of blood formed & slain warriors disheveled hair appeared like floating straw
Bhisma blew his lion like conch shell & attacked Arjun’s flagpole with 8 arrows. Arjun was glad to have chance of combating Bhisma & in retaliation knocked his white umbrella to ground. Exceedingly fierce encounter took place. Arjun cut Bhisma’s bow into half, who in turn picked up another one & continued to send forth showers of arrows. It looked like fight of equals
As Bhisma came close by on his left, Arjun laughingly cut his bow & pierced him in chest with 10 arrows. This gave Bhisma great pain & he supported himself by leaning against the railing of his chariot. As his charioteer saw Bhisma unconscious, he quickly took him off the field to safety. Arjun prayed for his Grandfather Bhishma’s well being & bowed in respect
Arjun’s bravery establishes him as the biggest warrior amongst all. But, he still had humility & respect for his elders despite they fighting against him and supporting his arch enemy
We also pick fights in our lives against our adversaries but confrontation should be against what they represent, not with them as a person. Each living being are part & parcel of the Supreme Lord. They play their part based on theirs & our Karmic reactions. We just need to execute our Dharma following scriptural wisdom
Hate the Sin but not the Sinner!
