Real Values!

Duryodhana approached Arjun & pierced him on forehead with an arrow. Although blood streamed from wound, Arjun simply became angrier & retaliated with swift volley of arrows. Then, when Vikarna suddenly charged at him, riding an elephant, Arjun pierced the beast on forehead, making him tremble violently before falling down dead. Vikarna left

Arjun pierced Duryodhana in chest with a fierce arrow that made him vomit blood. At this all Kaurav warriors panicked & fled. Duryodhana was alarmed at being left unprotected & quickly turned his chariot around to retreat

Arjun chastised wicked son of Dhritrāshtra: How can you sacrifice your honor as Kshatriya by turning your back & fleeing from battlefield? Come back & fight with me. Struck by these harsh words, Duryodhana turned around & once again stood ready to fight

Karna, Bhishma, Drona, Krpā, Dushasana & other warriors came to their King’s aid so that Arjun soon became besieged by showers of arrows from all sides. Arjun first counteracted arrows & then invoked ‘Sammohana’ weapon obtained from Indra. The wonderful weapon immediately spread its influence over entire battlefield, causing all to become stupefied & inert so that they appeared like statues

When Arjun saw that all his enemies became unconscious, their bows slipping from hands, he remembered his friend Uttarā’s request. Arjun ordered Bhuminjaya: Quickly drive into Kaurav ranks & take Drona & Krpā’s fine white clothes, Karna’s yellow outfit & Asvattāma’s bright blue garment. Don’t approach Bhishma, for he knows how to counteract this weapon & he can’t be stupefied

Uttara took off great warriors clothes & as he was taking Arjun away, suddenly Bhishma attacked. Arjun turned to face his adversary and in short time pierced Bhishma deeply and killed his horses & driver. As Duryodhana regained consciousness, seeing plight of Bhisma said: O Grandfather! Why’re you allowing Arjun to escape? Somehow stop him!

Bhishma said: Due to Arjun’s righteousness he didn’t kill us while we were helplessly stupefied. In consideration of this, I suggest that we give up fighting & allow Arjun to return with plundered cows. Duryodhana was also not eager for battle. Hearing these words, he simply heaved a deep sigh & Kauravas then set out for Hastināpur, beaten & bruised

We need to strictly adhere to our values either in war or in peace. In this age, many people lament lack of values in business or in other spheres of life. Many sacrifice higher principles just for petty pleasures

Everyone has values but they don’t reflect real values. The distortion happens as we don’t know the hierarchy of values & tragically put less important above more important values. This arises when we value the material more than spiritual

By understanding scriptures like Bhagvad Gita, we can reflect upon real value system. We can thus make our life profoundly meaningful & perennially fruitful by knowing that the source of all Values is-Krsna
