Name or actions?

Uttara asked Arjun, how did he receive the ten names

Arjun said, I am called:

-Dhananjaya, because I procured a vast amount of wealth after conquering numerous kings

-Vijaya, because I always come out victorious after approaching my enemies in battle

-Phalguna, because at the time of my birth, the Uttara Phālguna constellation was in ascendant

-Kiriti, in commemoration of the time when Indra placed a crown on my head before sending me to conquer the Dānavās

-Vibhatsu, as I’ve never performed an abominable act on the battlefield

-Svetavāhana, as my chariot is drawn by white horses

-Savyasacin, due to my ability to use Gāndiva bow equally well with both hands

-Arjun, due to of my clear complexion & pure actions

-Jisnu, as I am the son of Indra & I’m irrepressible in battle and subduer of all adversaries

-Krsna, because of my blackish complexion

Uttara offered his obeisances & said: My dear Arjun! I am thrilled to learn your real identity and I can assure you that my fear has been dispelled. Pardon me for my cowardliness. Now let me take the reins of your chariot so that I can see you display your unrivalled prowess

Arjun said: Quickly put all the weapons into the chariot. While driving, you must always remain confident that I will defeat the Kurus

Uttara thus cast off his fear. He then put Pāndavās’ weapons in the chariot. Uttara then said: Dear Arjun! I am curious to know one thing if you do not mind telling me. How could such a great hero become reduced to playing the part of a eunuch?

Arjun said: I act like this to fulfill my elder brother’s vow. Now that our final year of exile has ended, my manhood has been restored

After saying this, Arjun took off his bangles & put on the leather gloves used for wielding a bow. Concentrating his mind, Arjun summoned his celestial weapons so that they immediately appeared

The Kurus will soon face the consequences of their actions

One earns one’s fame not by his name but by the work he does. When Arjun was depressed seeing his relatives on the battlefield & gave up his weapon, Sri Krsna said:

sukha-duḥkhe same kṛtvā lābhālābhau jayājayau
tato yuddhāya yujyasva naivaṁ pāpam avāpsyasi

Do thou fight for the sake of fighting, without considering happiness or distress, loss or gain, victory or defeat – and by so doing you shall never incur sin

Everything should be performed for the sake of Kṛṣṇa in transcendental consciousness; so there is no reaction to material activities. He who acts for his own sense gratification, either in goodness or in passion, is subject to reaction, good or bad. But he who has completely surrendered himself in activities of Kṛṣṇa consciousness is no longer obliged to anyone, nor is he a debtor to anyone, as one is in the ordinary course of activities, says Srila Prabhupada

yoga-sthaḥ kuru karmāṇi saṅgaṁ tyaktvā dhanañ-jaya

siddhy-asiddhyoḥ samo bhūtvā samatvaṁ yoga ucyate

Perform your duty equipoised, abandoning all attachment to success or failure. Such equanimity is called yoga
