One day Indra appeared before Karna for charity. Disguised as a Brāhmanā, Indra said: O pious Suta’s son! I’ve come here to ask for charity. Pls don’t disappoint me

Karna welcomed him & inquired: What do you want from me-gold, land, or something else?
Indra said: I don’t want any such thing. If you’re actually true to your vow, then I request you to cut off your natural armor & earrings & present it to me. I desire this gift more than anything else

Karna said: I’m able to give you land, cows, jewels or anything else. But I’m unwilling to give you my armor & rings

But, in spite of repeated request by Karna, Indra wouldn’t accept anything else
Finally Karna said: I’m willing to give you entire earth, after killing anyone who dares oppose me. But, I can’t give you my armor & rings, for they were born along with my body & were produced by heavenly nectar. Without them I would not be unconquerable on the battlefield

Indra remained adamant & so Karna said: I know that you’re Indra in disguise. Considering your exalted position, it is you who should offer benediction & not beg me. Besides this, your request doesn’t befit your noble character. It may bring about my destruction & make you infamous too. Still if you insist, I’ll give it but only in exchange of benediction I ask for

Indra said: I’m aware that Surya knew of my intention & I believe he must have revealed it to you. If you’re willing to part with what I want, I’ll grant you benediction of your choice

Karna joyfully said: Give me your invincible Sakti weapon that destroys countless warriors each time it is released
Indra mentally summoned the weapon & said: I’ll give you this awesome weapon that kills hundreds of demons when discharged & then obediently returns to my hand. But, in your hand it will kill one very powerful enemy & then will return to me

Karna accepted the condition & said: I want to kill a particular person I’m afraid of
Indra said: This dart will certainly kill one great warrior, but the person whom you’re thinking of is being personally protected by Lord Nārayana

Still Karna agreed to the exchange & requested: After I cut off these ornaments, pls arrange that there are no scars left on my body
Indra accepted it & said: Let me also warn you, if this infallible weapon is used at a time when your life is not in danger, or when you’ve other suitable weapons at your disposal, then it will kill you instead of your enemy

When one is on the material platform,all his efforts is to ensure his material well-being-power, position,wealth etc. Despite the fact that it is the prerogative of the Supreme Lord to give & to take away also, one still thinks he can overturn his destiny

Krsna says: sarvasya cāhaṁ hṛdi sanniviṣṭo mattaḥ smṛtir jñānam apohanaṁ ca- I am seated in everyone’s heart, and from Me comes remembrance, knowledge & forgetfulness

Let’s follow the wisdom of surrendering to the Supreme Lord & carry out His wish not ours. He is the Source

  Make or break!   When Salya agreed to drive Karna’s chariot only on condition that he must be allowed to speak freely whatever he likes, Duryodhana and Karna readily agreed & thus a contract was made. Duryodhana flattered Salya by comparing him to Lord Brahmā, who formerly became Shiva’s charioteer at the time of destroying Tripura   Duryodhana concluded his long talk by saying: Dear Salya, Parasurāma delivered the entire science of weapons to Karna.   Krsna’s plan!   As Asvattāma asked Krpa about what happened to his father Drona, with great anguish Krpa said: My dear Asvattāma, your father was killed by Dhrishtadyumna.
