Identifying strengths!

As Yudhisthira decided to stay at Virāta kingdom for their incognito exile stay, he asked his brothers roles they would like to play during the stay

Arjun inquired: My dear brother, what role do you intend to play

Yudhisthira said: I’ll play the part of a Brāhmanā named Kanka & present myself before the king as being very skilled in the art of playing dice. In this way I’ll become Virāta’s court jester and keep them amused. Bhima, Arjun what role you would play?

Bhima said: I’ll introduce myself as a cook named Vallabha. Aside from pleasing the king by preparing sumptuous food, I’ll entertain him by defeating all challengers who wrestle with me

Arjuna said: Declaring myself to be a eunuch named Brhannala I’ll put on a woman’s dress, keep a long braid of hair & wear earrings. I will cover with bangles the scars on my arms that were caused by the constant striking of my bowstring. With an air of gaiety, I’ll entertain the king and his consorts by telling funny stories. I’ll also teach the palace ladies the arts of music and dance

Nakula said: I’ll use the name Granthika & serve the king by caring for his horses

Sahadeva said: I will introduce myself as Tantrapāla and offer to take care of the king’s cows

Maharāj Yudhisthira next spoke to Draupadi: O Princess of Pāncāla, I wonder what service you can render to the king. You have never been accustomed to performing any womanly work

Draupadi said: My dear husbands, I’ll represent myself as a Sairindhri (a female servant expert in hairdressing and other such feminine arts). In this way I’ll engage in the service of Virāta’s queen Sudesna

Maharāj Yudhisthira approved of this role, but warned: My dear Draupadi, you must never act in such a way as to become the object of attention of lusty men

It was decided that Pāndavās & Draupadi would claim that they were formerly engaged in the service of Maharāja Yudhisthira, before his exile to the forest

Ideally one should take up the job in which he is an expert at and what one relishes to do. One should enjoy work as just an extension of his natural self. Professionally an analysis should be done about the strength & interest of the team members and their natural inclination of executing the given tasks. They then should be allotted work accordingly

Also, a little introspection can demonstrate our inherent likings & distractions. When we stabilize our mind so that it doesn’t get captivated by trivial things & is focused on the purpose, we can analyze our true strength and motivations

Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa says to Arjuna about controlling the turbulent & obstinate mind: O mighty-armed son of Kuntī, it is undoubtedly very difficult to curb the restless mind, but it is possible by suitable practice and by detachment
