Yaksa posed next questions & Maharaja Yudhisthira answered them all very concisely

 

Q: What is the cause of envy?

A: Envy is born of grief

 

Q: Who is it that is condemned to an everlasting hell?

A: When a person calls for a poor Brāhmanā, promising to give him charity, and then upon his arrival tells him that he has nothing to offer, goes to an everlasting hell. Also, those who blaspheme the Supreme Lord, the Vedic literatures, and the devotees of the Supreme Lord. Go to an everlasting hell

 

Q: What is it that makes one a true Brāhmanā – birth, behavior or learning?

A: It is behavior alone that qualifies one as a true Brāhmanā. Thus Brāhmanās must be very careful to exhibit the exemplary behavior. One whose behavior is faultless will never meet with obstruction on the path of life. Teachers & students alike, who are addicted to sinful habits, should be considered illiterate, even though they may be very learned in the scriptures. One who is an expert in the knowledge of the four Vedas but whose conduct is not proper is to be considered no better than a Sudra

 

Q: Who is pleasing?

A: A person who is accustomed to speaking pleasantly is pleasing to all

 

Q: What is real charity

A: Real charity towards others is to protect them from the onslaught of material nature

 

Compassion is certainly a human quality & a compassionate person is generally respected by people in general. Unfortunately, compassion applied to material conditions has no lasting value, for the real problems all of us face are old age, invalidity, death & rebirth

 

In Bhagvad Gita, it is clearly explained that the self is not material product & that the birth, death, old age & disease are there miserable impositions upon the eternal soul. The actual purpose of human life is to get out of the vicious cycle of repeated birth & death and the means for doing so is to surrender to Lord Krsna

 

Krsna says:

daivī hy eṣā guṇa-mayī mama māyā duratyayā
mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti te

 

This divine energy of Mine, consisting of the three modes of material nature, is difficult to overcome. But those who have surrendered unto Me can easily cross beyond it

 

Therefore, the real compassion or charity is to help the conditioned souls escape the bondage to material existence

  Make or break!   When Salya agreed to drive Karna’s chariot only on condition that he must be allowed to speak freely whatever he likes, Duryodhana and Karna readily agreed & thus a contract was made. Duryodhana flattered Salya by comparing him to Lord Brahmā, who formerly became Shiva’s charioteer at the time of destroying Tripura   Duryodhana concluded his long talk by saying: Dear Salya, Parasurāma delivered the entire science of weapons to Karna.   Krsna’s plan!   As Asvattāma asked Krpa about what happened to his father Drona, with great anguish Krpa said: My dear Asvattāma, your father was killed by Dhrishtadyumna. Knowing Drona to be invincible as long as he would wield his weapons, Sri Krsna ordered Yudhisthira to falsely inform him of your death.
