As
Sri Hanumān asked Bhima to return to his brothers,
he insisted: Unless I’m able to see your gigantic form I’ll not be satisfied
Hearing this Hanumān
smiled & began to expand his body until it reached gigantic proportions he
had assumed while taking his monumental leap to Lankā. He became as big as a
mountain, exhibited copper-colored eyes & sharp teeth. When Bhima saw this form,
he was struck with wonder & his hair stood on end. He closed his eyes &
felt no more than an insignificant fly in comparison to his illustrious brother
Hanumān smilingly
said: Factually I’m able to go on expanding my body as I like. Infact when I
face my enemies, my size increases automatically as needed. Bhima was
bewildered & requested his brother to resume his smaller form. Contracting
his size Hanumān once again appeared as before & regaining composure Bhima
said: Why is it that Sri Rām had to personally fight Rāvan? It appears that you
could’ve single-handedly killed all the demons & destroyed entire Lankā?
In solemn voice Hanumān
said: What you said is true, Rāvan was no match for me, but I didn’t want to
kill him for that would’ve obscured fame of eternally worshipful Sri Rām. After
saying this he pointed out to Bhima path to Saugandhika Forest & gardens of
Kuvera, but warned: These regions are guarded by Yaksas & Demons, so do not
take any lotus flowers by force. First win favor of demigods by offering them
suitable prayers & then your desire will be fulfilled
After saying this,
Hanumān fulfilled his duty as an elder brother by briefly discoursing on
morality & said: Perform sacrifices, study Vedas, give charity. However,
teaching, officiating at sacrifices & receiving charity is for Brāhmanās
only. In confidential matter one should never consult a woman, a drunkard, a
boy, a greedy person, a mean-minded person or one who displays signs of
insanity. It’s duty of Kshatriya to protect & chastise his subjects without
being influenced by lust, anger, greed, or malice
Hanumān embraced Bhima
with great affection & at once Kunti’s son found that all his fatigue was
mitigated & his bodily strength increased. Tearful Hanumān said-Dear Bhima!
It has been a great pleasure for me to meet you. Because you’re a human being,
you’ve reminded me of Sri Rām, for He had appeared in human-like form. Pls
remember me & take benediction from me. If you so desire, I can kill all sons
of Dhritrāshtra or arrest Duryodhana & bring him to King Yudhisthira
Bhima said-I think
our victory has already been assured by receiving your well wishes. The only benediction
I request is that I & my brothers always remain under your protection.
Hanumān said: I’ll help by positioning myself on Arjuna’s chariot flagpole. By
my ferocious roars I’ll diminish strength of your enemies so that Arjun can
easily kill them
Respect is not
forced but earned on integrity. One should always understand that his skills, strength
& intellect all come from the Supreme Lord & we should not at any time
consider ourselves as the doer
