Path to Success!
Bhima killed demon Jatāsura who had disguised himself as a Brāhmanā. Moving ahead, Pāndavās spent some time in Vrsparvās, as the end of 4th year approached since Arjuna departed to heavenly abode. They then travelled to Arstisena’s hermitage & saw that the sage was so emaciated due to severe austerities that he was practically a walking skeleton
The sage welcomed them & asked about their wellbeing. He pointed to Mount Kailāsa & warned: It’s not possible to go any further than this because the regions that lie ahead are meant for enjoyment of demigods & is the domain of Kuvera. One day Garuda came to nearby lake & carried off a snake. Due to force of wind created by flapping of Garuda’s wings, entire mountain began to tremble & many trees fell
Pāndavās were wonderstruck seeing this & at this time the wind carried some heavenly flowers of 5 colors & dropped them onto the ground nearby. Draupadi had never seen such lovely flowers & enamored by them, she goaded Bhima to fulfill her desire to get more of them. Bhima fearlessly rushed towards Gandhamādan mountain with his bow, sword & mace to get them
Bhima killed many Rāksasās & smashed Manimān, their army commander. When Kuvera learnt about destruction caused by Bhima, he came flying thro’ the sky in his Puspaka chariot. He was not willing to forgive Bhima for this 2nd transgression. But when he saw Yudhisthira & other Pāndavās & considered the mission they were to execute on behalf of demigods, he gave up his anger
He said to Bhima-O son of Vāyu, I don’t mind that you disregarded my authority to please Draupadi, for by this act you’ve freed me from Agastya’s terrible curse
Kuvera desired to impart good instructions to King Yudhisthira & said: You should understand that there are 5 factors leading to successful execution of all endeavors-Patience, Ability, Time, Place & Prowess. Only one who possesses all 5 of these attributes can continue to rule earth for a long period of time. Bhima is certainly powerful & fearless, but at the same time he is ignorant of duty, haughty & has childish mentality. Therefore, you should keep him in check
Arjun on the other hand is not only powerful but is a reservoir of good qualities as well. He possesses self-restraint, is charitable, intelligent, modest & truthful. Infact he is unwilling to do any abominable act. You can rest be assured that he is well & is residing happily in Indra’s abode
The above instructions apply well to individuals as well as teams for success. Most of the time we put great emphasis on our prowess & ability, but the other factors of patience, time & place are equally important.

Pride, arrogance, conceit, anger, harshness & ignorance–these qualities belong to those of demoniac nature, O son of Pṛthā
Humility learns even from success, but false pride keeps us away to learn even from failures
