Let's acknowledge & act!
As Arjun wondered what weapon he should next employ, Kirāta came close by & taking advantage of this opportunity, Arjun placed the end of his bow around hunter’s neck & began dragging him while simultaneously striking him with his fists. But much to his dismay, Kirāta suddenly snatched his bow
Arjun quickly unsheathed his sword & attacked. His mighty sword that could smash rocks to pieces with its sharp blade, when was brought down with full force upon Kirāta’s head, broke into fragments. At this, Arjun resorted to showering rocks & trees upon his foe, but the hunter bore these with patience. In desperation Arjun rushed & struck his enemy with his fists with all his might. When Kirāta returned his blows, entire forest reverberated with thundering sounds
Arjun tried to crush Kirāta in his embrace. As 2 mighty warriors squeezed one another, smoke began to emanate from their bodies. Kirāta was more powerful & so Arjun soon lost consciousness. Indeed, with his body bruised & mangled, he fell to ground as if dead. Regaining senses, Arjun became aggrieved realizing he had been defeated
In this humiliated condition, Arjun began to mentally prostrate himself before Lord Shiva to offer his obeisance. From the clay that he found around him, he fashioned a small deity of the Lord. Thereafter, as he engaged in worshipping the deity, Arjun suddenly saw that the flower garland he had offered, was decorating Kirāta’s crown. Pleased, Arjun realized that it was Lord Siva that has appeared before him satisfied with his austerities
Regaining composure, Arjun touched lotus feet of the Lord. My dear son of Kunti, I’m very pleased to have witnessed your prowess, which is almost equal to my own-said Lord Shiva. Now I’ll give you divine eyes so that you can behold my original form. You’re actually a great sage & an eternal associate of the Supreme Lord, so there is no doubt that you’ll ultimately vanquish your enemies, even if they’re demigods of heaven. I’ll give you one of my irresistible weapons
When Arjun saw Lord Siva & goddess Umā in their celestial form, he bent on his knees & offered prayers with folded hands. He begged Lord to mercifully forgive him for ignorantly challenging him to fight. Lord Siva took Arjun by hand & smilingly pardoned him for his supposed offences & embraced him. He blessed him saying-I’ll make your quivers inexhaustible & relieve your body of all pain. Ask me whatever benediction you like, as I’m pleased with your devotion
People in mode of goodness, when they realize their fault, they readily surrender asking for forgiveness. But in ignorance & passion, we rarely acknowledge our fault, leave aside begging for forgiveness. Arguing against fault is an exercise of self-defeating mentality, resentment & overall negativity. We thus disempower ourselves in not coming out of pit & move forward
Acknowledgement of fault is our responsibility & improving the situation should be our focus
