Practice then Preach!

Seeing bad omens, Dhritrāshtra became afraid of his sons’ immanent destruction & so he severely reprimanded Duryodhana saying: You wicked minded wretch, the way in which you’ve insulted your faultless cousins & their chaste wife Draupadi, I can understand that your destruction is at hand

Saying this Dhritrāshtra endeavored to console Draupadi saying: O chaste & virtuous Princess of Pāncāla, you’re foremost of my daughters-in-law. Please take from me any benediction you desire. Greatly relieved at this turn of events, she said: I request that Yudhisthira be freed from bondage so that my son Prativindhya be not known as son of slave

Dhritrāshtra immediately gave consent & requested Draupadi to accept a second boon. She asked: May Bhima, Arjuna, Nakul & Sahadev, along with their weapons & chariots be given freedom as well. This request was also granted & Dhritrāshtra again said: Daughter! You’ve not been sufficiently honored by me, so please accept 3rd benediction

Draupadi replied: O King! I don’t deserve 3rd benediction for it is said that a Vaisya can ask for 1 benediction, a Kshatriya lady 2, A Kshatriya male 3 & a Brahmana 100. I’ve no need for further benediction as my husbands are now free so that all kinds of prosperity can be achieved by their endeavor

Karna sarcastically remarked: Just see how Pāndavās who were sinking in ocean of distress, have been rescued by the boat of their wife. Listening this Bhima again became extremely enraged & wanted to consume all Kings present there. Arjun tried to restrain him with words of reason & Yudhisthira embraced & managed to pacify him

Yudhisthira then approached Dhritrāshtra with folded hands & said: Pls give me blessing for I desire to be always obedient to you in all respects. The King said: Go back to Indraprastha & continue ruling your kingdom peacefully. You know subtle path of morality & possess great wisdom, humility & respect for your elders. Please take my advice: for where is intelligence there is forgiveness & forbearance. Those who are best of men don’t remember hostile acts of their enemies but see their merits. Those who’re good do good for others without expecting good in return

All the words of wisdom given to others should first be applied to self. If we practice the same ourselves then our conduct is more than an example for others to see & apply, else it just remains an empty talk

Practice what you preach or else change your speech. If not, preaching just becomes a tool to negate & suppress others

Let's not become hypocrites to believe that we have the right to hold others responsible for standards which we ourselves refuse to apply

Huge lessons! #gameoflife
