It's an ART!

Dushasana told Draupadi: You should give up your husbands now that they are deprived of all their possessions. Why don’t you accept one of great Kuru heroes as your lord?

It was unbearable for Bhima to hear Dushasana speak like this. While suppressing his great anger, he approached Kaurava prince & vowed: Just as you’re trying to pierce us with sharp words, one day I’ll pierce you with my sharp arrows on battlefield. Being bound by the codes of morality, Bhima couldn’t do anything to retaliate physically in response to the insults hurled by shameless Dushasana, who danced in a circle taunting Bhima repeatedly, addressing him as a cow

At this Bhima repeated his former vow saying: Wretch! If I don’t drink your blood on battlefield after tearing open your chest, then I may never attain exalted destination after death. Bhima declared: I hereby promise that by killing all of Dhritrāshtra’s sons, I shall one day pacify my terrible anger

As Bhima followed Yudhisthira out of the assembly hall, Duryodhana took opportunity to mock his lion-like strides while laughing. At this Bhima turned around & said: Fool! Don’t think that by this act you have gained superiority over me. Very soon I’ll kill you in battle with my mace & as you’ll lie prostrate on the ground, I’ll place my foot on your head. Arjuna will kill Karna & Sahadev will kill Sakuni

Arjun assured Bhima: If after passing 13 years in exile, Duryodhana doesn’t return our kingdom, I’ll kill Karna & all kings who’ll try to oppose us on battlefield. Sahadev, with his eyes red with rage also declared: I’ll kill Sakuni, the worst of Gāndhāra kings, along with all his followers, fulfilling vow of Bhima

Yudhisthira then approached Dhritrāshtra & other elders of Kuru dynasty to offer his respects & bid them farewell. However, being extremely ashamed of themselves, none of them could reply to him, although within their hearts they wished him well

Only Vidura responded: Dear Yudhisthira! Because your mother is too old to endure harsh forest life, I’ll keep her under my care. You should not be overly aggrieved because of unexpected turn of events, for he who is vanquished by sinful means hasn’t actually suffered defeat. Be assured that your forest life will yield great results & indeed will be a blessing in disguise. After passing thro’ this period, I’m confident that you’ll return crowned with success

Kunti wept bitterly & lamented how painful it was to see her sons dressed in deerskin. Pāndavās consoled their mother before Vidura led her back to his house

Words bring out the best (& the worst) out of us. It can soothe or inflame, pacify or aggravate, inspire or demoralize, energize to achieve the impossible or demote to ignominy

We all should develop the art of using our speech with words aimed at overall good. Krsna says that for this we need to learn our scriptures which can instill wisdom of what to say, when & to whom. It also teaches art of silence as well
