Red line❗
As Bhisma confidently
proposed Sr Krsna’s name for Arghya offering, he ordered Sahadev to present it.
However, when the Lord graciously accepted the offering, Sisupāla couldn’t tolerate
it & said with great agitation-O Bhisma! How could you dare mislead Sahadev,
who is but a child? On what basis did you select Krsna as the foremost
personality present here, passing other more important persons?
If seniority is criterion
for selection, Krsna’s father Vasudev is the eldest. If you consider Guru
should be given preference, Drona or Krpa should be chosen. If distinction is
to be given to saintly personality, Vyāsdev, Nārada or other great sages can be
chosen. Why Krsna? He said to Yudhisthira-O King! If your choice was made to
honor your allies, Drupada should be chosen. Krsna is not a preceptor, priest,
or King. Indeed, he’s not even pious, what to speak of saintly. He acts
immorally without shame as in the deceitful killing of Jarāsandha
If you intended to
offer the first worship to Krsna, why did you invite all these exalted kings to
come here & be insulted. Turning to Krsna, Sisupāla said: O Vāsudev! Even
if it is granted that others acted foolishly to choose you, how could You dare
accept the Arghya? At least you should be enlightened enough to understand that
You are unworthy of such worship
Saying this Sisupāla
stormed out of the assembly followed by many kings. Yudhisthira hastily ran
after & tried to pacify him, but Bhisma restrained him by saying that
anyone who does not approve of the worship to Krsna doesn’t deserve words of
conciliation. Addressing the entire assembly Bhisma boldly declared-It is not
only me but all great personalities who consider Krsna as the Supreme Lord. He
is the origin & refuge of everything. Even as child he acted in superhuman
manner. Sisupāla is a mere boy & doesn’t understand the transcendental
glories of the Lord
Sahadev then thundered-If
there is anyone in the assembly who objects to the worship of Krsna, I’m
prepared to place my foot upon his head. I challenge all to reply if you feel
that my words are faulty. After saying this, Sahadev lifted his foot, but no
one dared to say anything. Nārada Muni stood up & loudly said-Anyone who does
not worship Lord Krsna should be considered a dead body even though breathing
& should never be seen nor talked to on any occasion. This is the
injunction in scriptures
The assembly settled
down again so that Sahadev can complete the offering of Arghya
There is always a red
line which should not be crossed. There are some fundamentals which should
never be encroached upon & defending the same should be the utmost
responsibility without fail
We all are custodians
of principles & should selflessly act to uphold it & not become
opportunistically self-centered. Our mind reacts impulsively to external
perceptions & internal recollections, becoming allured by some things &
appalled by others. We need to follow scriptures & foremost thing is its
knowledge
Let's read, implement
& gain respect!
