Speech!

Krsna & Balrāma arrived at potter’s house & saw Yudhisthira with his brothers. After touching Yudhisthira’s feet, Lord Krsna said-I’m Krsna, son of Vasudeva & this is Balarāma, son of Rohini. Pāndavās were delighted to meet their cousin brothers. How did you recognize us in spite of our disguises, asked Yudhisthira. Krsna said-Even when covered, fire can easily be perceived. Who else but your brothers could’ve performed such wonderful feats?

It’s your good fortune that you escaped fire & it didn’t allow wicked Duryodhana to succeed in his plot to kill you, said Lord Krsna, who then departed so that Pāndavās identities is not disclosed

Dhrstadyumna had secretly followed Pāndavās when they returned home with Draupadi, so that he could observe mysterious brāhmanās concealing themselves in potter’s house. While remaining hidden Dhrsta saw Bhima & Arjun return from their rounds of begging alms & handover their collection to Yudhisthira. Kunti then instructed Draupadi how to prepare meal & first offer food to Supreme Lord Nārāyana & then give Mahāprasad to Brahmins & guests. The remaining food should then be divided into half, one to be given to Bhima & other divided into 6 parts for others

That night when it was time to rest, Pāndavās lay down on bed of Kusā grass with their heads facing south. Kunti lay down at her son’s heads & Draupadi at her husbands’ feet. Dhrsta heard Pāndavās talking about celestial weapons & other military matters. Next morning Dhrsta came out of hiding & returned to report what he saw to his father Drupada, who was anxious to know identities of Brahmin to whom he gave his daughter

Dhrsta said-It appears from their conversation that these Brāhmanās are actually Kshatriyās. They might even be Pāndavās for it is rumored that they escaped fire at Vārnnavata. It’s my conviction that these are mighty sons of Kunti disguised as wandering mendicants. Drupada was very pleased to hear this & sent his priest to ascertain the truth of the matter

When priest arrived at potter’s house, he greeted Pāndavās & said-King of Pāncālas was very happy when hen saw the great hero pierce the target, thus winning the right to marry Draupadi. Please provide your family & dynasty details & Pāncāla ruler desires to bestow his daughter upon Arjun, if this is actually the case. This will be supremely conducive to his family’s reputation

Yudhisthira ordered Bhima to wash priest’s feet. He said-the king should not inquire about identity of his son-in-law. His daughter was given away because the condition of piercing target has been fulfilled. Of-course it’s a well-known fact that no one less qualified than Arjun could’ve strung bow, what to speak of hitting the target. Keeping this in mind King shouldn’t worry

There is a way to convey the message always without hurting other’s sentiments. Speaking truth but in a non-offensive & beneficial way is a must else it may hurt emotions & beget unnecessary trouble

Krsna says in BG

anudvega-karam vakyam satyam priya-hitam ca yat

svadhyayabhyasanam caiva van-mayam tapa ucyate

Austerity of speech consists in speaking truthfully and beneficially and in avoiding speech that offends. One should also recite Vedas (scriptures) regularly
