Faith!

Hearing Kunti’s assurance that her son will go tomorrow to demon Bakā, the Brāhmana felt that a great burden had been lifted from his head. Kunti then went to solicit her son’s consent & Bhima readily agreed to display his prowess for purpose of rendering service to Brāhmana

That evening when other Pāndavās returned home with alms, Yudhisthira could understand just by seeing Bhima’s face that he was about to undertake a very grave task. He asked his mother what Bhima is about to do? Is it of his own volition or by your order? Kunti replied-I’ve ordered him to kill terrible demon Bakā to rescue poor Brāhmana & other people from town.

Yudhisthira became very upset & said-What a rash thing you’ve done. It goes against all moral principles for a woman to sacrifice her own son for sake of another. Also, we rely on Bhima’s strong arms to sleep peacefully at night & hope to regain our parental kingdom

Kunti remained firm & said-I’m fully confident of Bhima’s strength & have full faith that one achieves highest merit by rendering unhesitating service to Brāhmanas. Finally, Yudhisthira admitted that his mother was doing right thing but still warned her to make Brāhmana promise not to tell anyone about this & make known Bhima’s prowess which could unveil their real identities

Next morning Bhima set out with cartload of rice & 2 buffaloes. As he approached forest, Bhima began eating food while loudly calling out Bakā’s name. When demon heard this, he angrily came & when he saw Bhima eating food intended for him, he shouted with rage-Who is this fool that desires to go to abode of Yamarāj?

Bhima smiled disdainfully while still eating. Bakā in rage was terribly fearful to look at with his reddish hair, pointed ears & protruding sharp teeth. He let out a terrible roar, raised both arms & rushed at Bhima with intent to kill him at once. Bhima merely glanced at onrushing Bakā & continued eating. Demon struck Bhima at back with great force but he didn’t bother to look up

Bakā then tore a huge tree & rushed at Bhima as he finished his meal & got up to wash hands. Demon hurled a tree, but Bhima easily caught it with his left hand. Fierce fight ensued & Bakā pounced upon Bhima & seized him with his mighty arms, but Bhima squeezed demon in his embrace & threw him on ground with great force. Bhima grabbed his neck & tied a cloth around his wait to bend his body. Demon let out a frightening roar, vomited blood & gave up his life

When one has faith on something or someone, it is not irrational if not supported by facts. While rationality is a vital tool for human search to understand reality, it is not the only tool. It takes reason years to vindicate what inspiration out of faith reveals. An inspiration too gives real knowledge & exemplifies ways of knowing that transcend reason. This is not irrational but trans-rational

Reality is incredibly complex & has levels which is unknown by reason! Faith drives mountains. Believe!
