šŸ’²Wealth & Fall⏬

Dhritrāshtra knowing his sons were becoming mischievous, appointed Krpācharya as guru & sent them for training. Both Krpā & Krpi were born from Saradvān, son of Gautam Rsi, who while performing austerities to obtain celestial weapons was distracted by a celestial Apsara Janapadi & lost his control of senses. Krpā was taught art of employing weapons by his father & at a young age became highly proficient in military science

There was another great sage named Bhāradvāja who did austerities at the source of Gangā. One day while bathing he happened to see beautiful celestial maiden Ghritaci & was enchanted. At turn of events, a son was born in a earthen jar & hence was called Drona

King Prsata & sage Bhāradvāja were great friends & every day the king would visit sage in his hermitage. King’s son Drupada would accompany him & play with sage’s son Drona. Later, when king died, Drupada became king of Pāncalas. Soon thereafter Bhāradvāja too died. Drona then married Krpi & in due course a son was born named Asvattāma (the horse-voiced one), as he neighed just like celestial steed Uccaihsrāva

Drona came to hear that Lord Parasurāma had renounced fighting & desired to give way his accumulated wealth to Brahmanās. He went to mount Mahendra to meet him. After Drona paid obeisance, the Lord asked the purpose of his coming & Drona said he came seeking wealth. Lord replied that he already has given away all wealth to Brahmanās & only has his invaluable weapons

Drona requested Lord to give him his weapons along with knowledge of their use. He thus acquired complete science of weapons including use of Brahmāstra. Drona then departed & went to the Kingdom of Drupada. It had been many years since Drona had seen his friend & introduced himself as his childhood mate. However, Drupada had become intoxicated with pride due to his opulence & felt insulted by Drona’s presumption

Drupada said-It may be true that we were childhood friends but I cannot consider you as such, for friendship can exist only between equals & not between one who is very rich & the other who is poor

Drona felt insulted & enraged & this started great enmity between him & Drupada. A destiny changing event

Today wealth is considered a prime criterion for determining a person’s social status. Even a man who is highly educated & has good character, if he is poor, he’s considered a failure. Possession of wealth is intoxicating. If a person remains humble despite his wealth, it represents that he is an advanced soul & knows the purpose of wealth he has

Anyone having wealth has responsibility to use it for higher purpose & not for his sense gratification (a criminal waste), else the same wealth is taken away & leads to his fall. Wealth shouldn't cloud our good intelligence, build false pride, leading to commit offences against others
