As demigods discussed their role play in mission of Lord Vishnu, Soma pleaded-I can’t part with my son Varcā, as he’s dearer to me more than my life. He begged that his son be exempted from incarnating on earth. However, demigods impressed that there is no question of avoiding participation in Lord’s mission to annihilate demons
Finally, Soma said-I’ll allow you to take my son, but not for long. Let him become son of Arjuna. He’ll be great chariot warrior & at age of 16 after performing a heroic feat of eternal fame, he’ll return to me. He will relieve earth’s burden by killing ¼ of opposition army in just ½ day before dying. In addition, he will beget a heroic son that will continue Bhārata dynasty when it would almost be extinct
The demigods approved Soma’s words & agreed to his proposal
King Mahābhisa, a Ikshavāku descendent, performed 1000 horse sacrifices & ascended heavens after pleasing demigods. One day celestials & sages assembled to worship Lord Brahmā. Gangā was also in attendance & seeing her, Mahābhisa stared smitten by her beauty. Brahmā saw this & with great displeasure, cursed the King & Gangā to take birth on earth in human form
Brahmā informed King that he may choose his father as per his desire. He also said that he’ll also get relieved of curse when Gangā would provoke him to be angry. Mahābhisha took birth as son of King Pratipa
Gangā left Brahmā’s assembly cherishing great affection for Mahābhisa. While returning home she met Vasus, who seemed dejected by curse of Sage Vasishtha to be born as humans on earth. They requested Gangā to allow them to take birth from her womb. Being asked who they would like to be their father, they replied that future son of King Pratipa, called Sāntanu. They also requested that as soon as they are born, she would throw them in water to die as they would not like to suffer on earth for a long time
Gangā saw that this was also her choice, for she knew that Mahābhisa would be born as Sāntanu because of Brahmā’s curse
We all have divine empowerment to lead our dreams, provided we understand that our efforts are as per scriptural guidance. In the present world, in all walks of life including business, if they are on just principles of serving society, we can get rid of lot of anomalies that have crept in
When Lord chooses someone to be his instrument for manifesting his plan in world, that person often already has the necessary power for playing their part or is about to receive it. What if despite having such power, one still faces adversities? Such adversities are expertly incorporated by the Supreme Lord into his plan
For example, when Arjuna felt that he had failed to protect his son Abhimanyu, that setback laid ground for Krsna to lead Arjuna to his greatest victory, the killing of Jayadratha. And this victory wrecked Kaurava army’s morale. If their entire army couldn’t save one warrior, what chance did they have of winning or even surviving?
Do we realize? #gameoflife
