Intelligence to innovate!


Sauti said-At the start of creation, when the world was enveloped in total darkness, there came the primal cause of creation, a mighty egg, the inexhaustible seed of all created beings, called Mahadivya at the start of Yuga. From this egg came out Brahma, with Suraguru & Sthanu. Then appeared 21 Prajapatis-Manu, Vasistha & Parameshthi, 10 Prachetas, Daksha & his 7 sons. Then appeared Viswa-devas, Adityas, Vasus & twin Aswins, Yakshas, Sadhyas, Pisachas, Guhyakas & Pitris. After these came most holy Brahmarshis & numerous Rajarsis of noble quality

 

Then came water, heavens, earth, air, sky, points of heavens, years, seasons, months, fortnights with day & night in succession. What is seen in universe whether animate & inanimate was founded at start of Yuga & again destroyed by the wheel of creation

 

There were 333333 devas. Their sons Brihadbhanu, Chaksus, Atma etc., of which Vivaswan (Sun) was oldest & Mahya was youngest. The latter had sons & grandsons. From them descended family of Kurus, Yadus & of Bharata-the family of Yayati & Ikshavaku & all Rajrsis. The mysteries of Dharma, Artha & Kama and other rules of conduct of mankind were mentioned by Rsi Vyasa

 

Rsi Vyasa by his penance & meditation, analyzed Vedas & composed holy history Bharata. He then began to consider, how he might teach this to his disciples. Brahma-the preceptor of this world, knowing this anxiety came in person to Vyasa. After paying respects, Vyasa said to him-I have composed poem in which mysteries of Veda & other subjects, rituals of Upanishads & Angas, puranas have been explained

 

The 3 divisions of time-past, present, and future, determination of nature of decay, fear, disease, existence, & non-existence, description of creeds & of various modes of life, rule for 4 castes, account of asceticism, dimensions of sun & moon, planets, constellations & stars, duration of 4 ages, Rik, Sama & Yajur Vedas, spirituality, sciences called Nyaya, Orthœphy & treatment of diseases, charity, birth of celestial & human, art of war, different kinds of nations & languages, nature of manners of people, & all-pervading spirit-all these have been represented. But this work is not in written format

 

Brahma said-This poem is distinguished & let Ganesha be thought of to write this poem


Vyasa then called Ganesha & said-O guide of Ganas, let you be the writer of Bharata, which I would repeat. Ganesha said-I’ll write provided my pen does not cease for a moment as you dictate. Vyasa said-If you do not comprehend what I say, cease to continue writing. This way Vyasa was able to engage Ganesha despite his tough condition. Thus Mahabharata was put in writing


When we are faced with tough conditions, we need to be innovative about our approach rather than hitting the wall. We need to find a new idea, method or a device to succeed. It could be disruptive, incremental, sustaining or radical approach but focused on the task in hand

  Make or break!   When Salya agreed to drive Karna’s chariot only on condition that he must be allowed to speak freely whatever he likes, Duryodhana and Karna readily agreed & thus a contract was made. Duryodhana flattered Salya by comparing him to Lord Brahmā, who formerly became Shiva’s charioteer at the time of destroying Tripura   Duryodhana concluded his long talk by saying: Dear Salya, Parasurāma delivered the entire science of weapons to Karna. Therefore, we must intelligently conclude that Karna cannot really be a sutā’s son. He must be the offspring of a demigod born in a Kshatriya family & then abandoned at infancy. Grudge-The heaviest thing to hold! Asvattāma hurriedly yoked horses to his chariot & set out, as Krpa & Krtvarma anxiously followed him. He soon arrived at Pāndava camp & saw a gigantic being with enormous head with flames emanating from his eyes, nose, ear & mouth   Asvattāma fearlessly attacked that awesome being with his celestial weapons but failed in all his attempt. He thought to himself: Krpa had warned me that persons who don’t listen to their elders must lament later. The frustration of my attempt must be due to its inherently sinful nature. I wonder who is this astonishing being that has defeated me. Obviously further exertion on my part will be useless until my destiny is favourable.
