Anomaly!


Was part of Sri Rām Navami festival yesterday. Huge crowds in temples across India


I was curious to know what Lord Ram means to people in today’s world and what inspires them to come to temple to have darshan of the deities and offer respects. Few responses


1.       Don’t know much about Sri Rām’s teachings but since he is the Supreme Lord, hence have come to take the darshan

2.       Am just following my friends to have a good time and get blessings from Sri Rām too

3.       The teachings of Sri Rām are outdated in these advance age of technology

4.       There is no connect to the dharmic principles & scriptural wisdom prophesized in Ramayana with our modern life

5.       We don’t have place for spirituality & even we follow it, how it can benefit me

6.       Scriptures & principles are outdated concepts and one who follows it are left behind in success

7.       Sri Rām is a mythological character & Ramayana is a fictional work

8.       We are too busy in normal days but as today is a holiday, we came out with family for an outing

When I reframed my question and asked


1.       Are people in general not executing their responsibilities and following dharmic principles

2.       Are the relationships not strong enough to rely upon & take shelter?

3.       Are people becoming too materialistic and losing their identities for small gains

4.       Are people words sacrosanct and they cannot be trusted in general

5.       Do you like others to be following principles

6.       Do you like your kids to be cultured, respectful & responsible?

7.       Are we collective heading towards doom with sparse light at the end of the tunnel?


The answers to all the above was a resounding YES!


What an anomaly! The things for which we are after are exactly the opposite to what we want


Our scriptures - Ramayana, Bhagvad Gita, Srimad Bhagwatam, Chaitanya Charitamrita etc are repository of Dharmic principles. They show us how to live this human form of life, its bigger purpose, our place in the material ecosystem, about the Supreme Lord & our relationship to him


Let us all read our scriptures and be a good role model ourselves, observing which others will be inspired to follow. We just need good role models in these strange times people want to be part of rat race and excel without being a rat themselves. What an illusion & bewilderment

  Make or break!   When Salya agreed to drive Karna’s chariot only on condition that he must be allowed to speak freely whatever he likes, Duryodhana and Karna readily agreed & thus a contract was made. Duryodhana flattered Salya by comparing him to Lord Brahmā, who formerly became Shiva’s charioteer at the time of destroying Tripura   Duryodhana concluded his long talk by saying: Dear Salya, Parasurāma delivered the entire science of weapons to Karna.   Krsna’s plan!   As Asvattāma asked Krpa about what happened to his father Drona, with great anguish Krpa said: My dear Asvattāma, your father was killed by Dhrishtadyumna. Knowing Drona to be invincible as long as he would wield his weapons, Sri Krsna ordered Yudhisthira to falsely inform him of your death.
