Mine or others!


Hearing words of the guardians of the world (celestials, Shiv & Brahma), Rām-the lord of creation, born in Raghu dynasty & foremost in protecting righteousness, spoke to them as follows-I think of myself as a human being, by the name Rām, the son of Dashratha. You, as gracious divinity, tell me that I am the maker of entire cosmos & foremost amongst all, but I don’t follow it


Hearing words of Rām, Brahma-the creator, said-Listen to my true word, O Lord! You’re Lord Narayana, the glorious one who wields discus. You’re divine boar with a single tusk, the conqueror of past & future enemies. You yourself are Brahma the imperishable, the truth abiding in the middle as well as at the end of universe. You’re Supreme righteousness of people, whose powers go everywhere. You’re the 4-armed Vishnu


You’re the wielder of a bow called Sarnga, the lord of senses, the supreme soul of universe, the best of men, the invincible, the wielder of a sword Nandaka, the all-pervading bestower of happiness on earth & endowed with great might. You’re intellect, endurance & subduer of senses & origin & dissolution of all. You’re Upendra, the Divine Dwarf & younger brother of Indra & destroyer of demon Madhu


You perform action for Indra, You’re Supreme Ruler, one having a lotus in one's navel & who puts an end to all in battle. The divine sages pronounce you to be fit to afford protection & refuge for all. In the form of Vedas, you’re great Bull with 100  heads (rules) & 1000 horns (precepts). You are first creator of all 3 worlds & self-constituted Lord of all. You are refuge & forbear of Siddhas & Sādhyas


You’re sacrificial performance, the sacred syllable 'Vashat' (on hearing which the Adhvaryu priest cast oblation to deity in sacrificial fire). You’re mystic syllable 'OM'. People neither know your end nor your origin nor who you are in reality. You appear in all created beings. You exist in all quarters, in sky, in mountains & rivers. With 1000 feet, 100 heads & 1000 eyes along with Lakshmi the goddess of wealth, you bear earth with all created beings


Here Supreme Lord is performing his role as a human being & sticks to that, despite all celestials glorifying him who he actually is. Krsna says in Gita


śreyān sva-dharmo viguṇaḥ para-dharmāt sv-anuṣṭhitāt

sva-dharme nidhanaṁ śreyaḥ para-dharmo bhayāvahaḥ


It is far better to discharge one’s prescribed duties, even though faultily, than another’s duties perfectly. Destruction in course of performing one’s own duty is better than engaging in another’s duties, for to follow another’s path is dangerous


We all sometimes forget our responsibilities and try to engage in some other role play. This is dangerous. Within an enterprise, all have to realize that their foremost duty is to do their job perfectly rather than execute others imperfectly. Whether material or spiritual, one should stick to his prescribed duties even up to death, rather than imitate another’s prescribed duties

  Make or break!   When Salya agreed to drive Karna’s chariot only on condition that he must be allowed to speak freely whatever he likes, Duryodhana and Karna readily agreed & thus a contract was made. Duryodhana flattered Salya by comparing him to Lord Brahmā, who formerly became Shiva’s charioteer at the time of destroying Tripura   Duryodhana concluded his long talk by saying: Dear Salya, Parasurāma delivered the entire science of weapons to Karna. Real compassion! Duryodhana who was hiding inside the lake, became very depressed hearing the bitter words from Yudhisthira, but since there was no alternative, he finally made up his mind to accept Yudhisthira’s challenge & fight.
