Listening to the details!

Bharata regained his consciousness in a while & embraced Hanumān, bathing him with copious tears born of delight. Hearing the news that his beloved Rām is coming back from exile to meet him, was pure delight. As you’ve given this agreeable news to me, I should give you something in return. I shall give you 100000 cows, a 100 best villages & other riches

Overwhelmed Bharata said-I'm indeed delighted to hear about my Lord Rām, who proceeded to the vast forest so many years ago. The common saying has come true that bliss comes to a surviving man even if it is after 100 years

Tell me how & for what reason, an alliance was made between Rām & Vānaras & at what place? Seated comfortably on a cushion & interrogated by Bharata, Hanumān thereafter began to narrate entire exploits of Rām in forest

O Bharata! How your mother was conferred 2 boons by your father, how Rām was sent to exile, how King Dasaratha died in sorrow on his son's exile, how you were brought quickly from Rajagriha by envoys, how sovereignty was not coveted by you when you returned to Ayodhya, how on your going to Chitrakuta, inviting Rām to take back the kingdom, Rām standing by his father's words said no, how you returned to Ayodhya taking with you his wooden sandals, all this is known to you. Hear from me now, what occurred next

When you returned, that forest of Chitrakuta, assumed a miserable appearance with frightened animals & birds. Rām entered solitary forest of Dandaka. As they were going, in front of them there appeared Viradha, a demon, uttering forth a very loud roar. Rām killed the demon & reached the hermitage of sage Sharbhanga. When sage ascended to heaven, Rām then reached Janasthana, where a female demon called Surpanakha sought his presence

Ordered by Rām, Laxman chopped of demon’s ears & nose. 14000 demons inhabiting that region were then killed by Rām in one quarter of a day. These demons were causing obstacles to austerities conducted by ascetics & were killed. Tormented by destruction of demons, Surpanakha sought refuge of Rāvan. A demon named Māricha in the form of deer allured Sitā, who asked Rām to get the charming deer for her. Rām chased that deer & killed him. But meanwhile Rāvan entered the hermitage during that interval & abducted Sitā

When someone listens to the deep details, it is because of his intent & concern for others and for the cause. Empathetic listening is compassion. We all need to have it, which basically is related to the realization of true equality of all living beings. If we internalize this element in our nature, of empathic understanding thro’ active listening, we connect with others in a mood of sharing & caring and others can feel it as genuine affection towards them. Otherwise they may feel alienated

Active listening of the details gives many clues, imbibes respect, concern, sensitivity & creates contributing relationships. Very important aspect for Managers & people in leadership role
