Upholding Dharma!

Driving away army of Vānaras, Rāvan saw Rām-endowed with long arms & wide eyes as lotus petals, standing unconquered with his brother Laxman, holding up his great bow as if scrapping the sky

Rām began to stretch his mighty bow. Its twang was as it would break the earth asunder. As Rām shot stream of arrows, demons fell down in hundreds. When Rāvan came within range of Rām & Laxman’s arrows, he resembled Rāhu standing in between Sun & Moon

Laxman released arrows which were like flames of fire on Rāvan, who prevented them in sky itself & split them by his arrows. Overpassing Laxman, Rāvan approached Rām & with eyes red blood in anger he released arrows on him. Seeing stream of arrows from Rāvan’s bow, Rām quickly seized crescent shaped arrows & tore them off

Rām on Rāvan, Rāvan on Rām, quickly showered each other with sharp arrows of various kinds. Pushing each other with the velocity of their arrows, remaining undefeated, both warriors described circles of different kinds each moving from left to right for a long time

Created beings were frightened as two warriors fought, resembling God of retribution & God of death respectively. The sky became dense with arrows of various kinds, as in the end of monsoon, clouds crowd with flashes of lightning. Sky was studded with eyeholes, by showers of high velocity arrows, decorated with plumes and became dark in daytime

Great combat ensued between both, willing to kill each other. The battle was unimaginable & unapproachable. It was like the duel which took place between Vrittasura & Indra. Both were excellent archers, skilled in warfare, in use of missiles & moved unhindered in battlefield. In whichever direction they went, stream of arrows followed like waves in ocean whipped by wind

Rāvan released a row of steel arrows on Rām’s forehead but he endured it without being perturbed. Rām, then seized an arrow, recited sacred incantations making use of missile presided by Rudra & released it in great anger on unbreakable armor of Rāvan & it approached like a five headed hissing serpent. Rāvan rebuffed it with an arrow presided by demoniac forces. Rām endowed it with great strength & replied with a missile presided by fire god

The fight of titans caught everyone’s imagination, & all were spellbound, never witnessed such a spectrum of weapons & prowess. This fight of Dharma Vs Adharma must be fought to a conclusion to establish righteousness & protect the upright

We are all part of a bigger eco system & cannot act alone to disturb it. For example, if we are driving on a road, we must follow rules & regulations of road transport. If one person wants to break the rules, it is not only hazardous to him but to others as well

Similarly we exist in this world & are part of bigger whole. We all are responsible for its sustenance by living harmoniously. The concept of Dharma is universal & not selective.

Huge lessons for us in personal & collective responsibility
