The power of small👊

Rāvan fitted his arrows with anger & released them towards flag staff fixed on Rām’s chariot. Without even reaching the ensign on the chariot or touching the staff which supported the banner, the arrows fell on ground. Rām too in great anger stretched his bow & returned blow for blow

Rām released a sharp arrow, looking like a huge serpent, blazing with its own splendor, directed towards Rāvan’s chariot flagstaff. It destroyed the staff & entered the earth. Rāvan laughed with intolerable anger & showered stream of arrows with the power of his wrath & attacked Rām’s divine horses but they were neither shaken nor stumbled. Healthy at heart, they felt as though were just struck with lotus stalks

Seeing the horses not affected, enraged Rāvan released arrows, maces, iron bludgeons, discs, iron clubs, spikes & axes. He also employed streams of missiles created by magic with 1000’s of arrows. The sky was filled with abundant missiles, which were tumultuous & fearful with a terrific echo. Rāvan also released arrows with a mind which had given up all hope of survival

Rām seeing the demon king putting his best effort, fitted sharp arrows on his bow & shot 1000’s to cover the sky. All the arrows shot by the 2 warriors didn’t miss the target but collided with each other & fell on ground. The sky looked brilliant with different types of arrows & made it bereft of even a breathing space. The two extremely enraged warriors carried out an excellent combat, causing the hair of those who witnessed that battle, to stand erect

They maneuvered their chariots viz moving in circles, moving straight & darting forward & receding to attack from different angles at each other. They wounded each other but still fought strongly with all their might. Rām then shot 4 arrows & drove back the horses of Rāvan but it was countered well by demon king, who then targeted Matāli-Ram’s charioteer. But Matāli was saved by Rām’s arrows on time

The entire earth, including mountains, groves & forests trembled by the tumultuous fight. The Sun became gloomy & wind stopped blowing. Celestials & sages seeing the matchless struggle from sky became anxious & prayed for Rām’s victory

The time had come when the final push has to be made for victory by Rām

Small victories are the steppingstones to big victory, just as small steps are taken to cover a long distance. Applying this incremental approach, if we strive earnestly by self-control & focused efforts, then making the final push to overcome the odds becomes a reality,which otherwise may seem gigantic for our small efforts

Small victories give us immense encouragement but if we are swayed by an unstable mind which can belittle them & deny the achievements, it can turn disastrous. We need to exercise resilience to temptation of either to achieve all in one go or be dispirited & discouraged by enormity of the task. Intelligence coupled with belief on self & the Supreme Lord helps us to be stable
