Hearing Jāmbavan, Vibhishana was very surprised & said-Why you didn’t enquire about whereabouts of venerable sons of Dashrath but instead asked for Hanumān? The exceptional affection you’re showing towards Hanumān is not being shown for Sugriva, Angad or even Rām, why?
Jāmbavan patiently replied-Listen to me as to why I’m enquiring about Hanumān at this time. If that brave Son of Wind God is surviving, whole army even if it is killed is still unhurt. On the other hand, if he has given up his life, we’re all dead even though living. If he survives, then there is hope for all of us to survive
Hanumān then approached elderly Jāmbavan & offered salutation by grasping his feet with modesty. Hearing his voice Jāmbavan considered himself born again & said-You ought to protect lives of Vānaras & bears and cheer them up by your prowess as you’re their true companion. You’re only one who can heal Rām & Laxman from arrow wounds
You ought to go to foremost Himalayas by crossing ocean. There you’ll see mount Rishabha & peak of mount Kailasa with a golden hue. In midst of these 2 peaks, you’ll see a blazing & brilliant mountain of herbs, amongst which there are 4 herbs which illuminate all 10 quarters. You'll find Mrit Sanjivani (capable of restoring dead to life) Vishalyakarni (capable of extracting weapons & healing all wounds), Suvarnakarani (restoring body to its original complexion) & Sandhani (capable of joining severed limbs & bones)
Bring these herbs quickly!
Hearing this, Hanumān was infused with animated strength. Standing on summit of Trikuta mountain & pressing it with his feet, Hanumān appeared like second mountain. Lifting himself Hanumān ascended mount Malaya (60 yojanas high) growing his body. He offered salutation to ocean & got ready to embark on his duty to serve Rām
Raising his tail, bending his back, contracting his ears & opening his mouth which shone like a terrific submarine fire, He jumped into sky, with a head long speed. By his velocity, he carried away multitude of trees, mountains & some ordinary Vānaras. Driven up & away by momentum generated from his arms & thighs, they fell in water when their speed diminished. Stretching his arms, Hanumān vying with prowess of hostile Garuda, headed towards Himalayas, with gush as though he was drawing away four quarters
Jāmbavan knew Hanumān was blessed with superhuman strength & could easily jump across huge distances by enlarging his form. In past, he was the one who reminded Hanumān of his boons when he forgot his great powers (due to a curse given in his childhood), to make the leap to Lanka when none could
Huge lessons in using special skills one has in a team, for greater good. To do this a manager has to have deep understanding of the strength (& weakness) of each member & accordingly utilizing the talent. Intelligent management is not about doing things yourself but to know who can do what at opportune time & inspiring them to serve
