Thoughtful advice!

Enraged Rāvan, who was very agitated in mind due to grief for his son Indrajit’s death, sprang up suddenly from throne, took his sword dazzling like clear sky, sallied forth from the assembly hall with his ministers and swiftly & quickly went to the place where Sitā stayed

Few demons spoke within themselves-Seeing Rāvan in such fury, the brothers Rām & Laxman would be perturbed. Indeed the 4 guardians of the would be frightened seeing him. No one on earth is equal to him in strength & prowess. As demons were murmuring, Rāvan rushed towards Sitā in Ashoka grove. It was like Mars rushing towards the constellation Rohini in fury

Sitā, who was guarded by she-demons, saw enraged Rāvan carrying a sword and was perturbed. Filled with sorrow, Sitā lamented and said-From the manner in which this demon is rushing towards me, I fear that he is going to kill me. He has instigated me in past to leave Rām & become his consort but was refused firmly by me. Having been evidently afflicted with despair on my refusal, he is surely intent to kill me in anger and infatuation

Sitā thought-It may also be that he decides to kill me due to his grief over his son’s death. I should have left on the back of Hanumān on that day, and not grieve now but would have been safely back to Rām. Sitā wept profusely thinking about impending calamity

Seeing Sitā weeping miserably, a minister called Suparshva-a good natured & upright demon, even though restrained by other demons, spoke to Rāvan-O King! Why do you wish to kill Sitā, abandoning your righteousness, in a bout of anger? Why you’re thinking of destroying a lady, ever since you completed the vow of celibacy essential to study Vedas & devotion to your own duty? You should release your anger on Rām alone. Make yourself ready & launch war tomorrow for victory. As you’re foremost amongst all warriors, you can fetch Sitā by killing Rām but don’t commit this cowardly act

Accepting that advice, endowed with justice, tendered by a friend, evil minded Rāvan went back to his place

An opportune advice is given always with a proper reason, otherwise it will be discarded as useless and unsolicited. When the purpose is defined, we support our feedback aligned to that goal. Our proposed vision should be shared which should find alignment with other person’s choice. As long as others see things differently & are not ready to reconsider their vision of things, our advice would fall into deaf ears & would further alienate them

To advise, needs sincerity & synergy of efforts and thus it can sway the course of events. Patience & the will to say words at the right time, place & circumstance is key. Huge lessons for us!
