Response Vs Impulse!šŸ‘Š

On hearing that Makarāksha has been killed, Rāvan grinded his teeth in rage & reflected what to do. He concluded that his invincible son Indrajit should proceed to battlefield to turn things around. Calling him, he said-O Hero! Either you remain visible or invisible, but kill Rām Laxman. You’ve conquered Indra, can you not kill those 2 men?

Indrajit bowed to his father's command. He performed Yagya & poured oblations into sacred fire. Weapons (such as lance) served as blades of Shara grass. Neck of a live black goat was seized & consigned to please the fire god

Omens of victory appeared in smokeless fire. Indrajit then ascended an excellent chariot capable of disappearing from sight. Drawn by 4 horses, with mighty bow & arrows, flag post like flaming fire, protected by Brahmāstra, Indrajit looked indomitable. He roared-By killing both princes, who left home to become religious mendicants in forest, I’ll present a gift of victory to my father today. I’ll make earth bereft of Vānaras. Speaking thus he vanished from sight

Fiery Indrajit swiftly arrived on battlefield & saw 2 heroes showering multitude of arrows. Rām Laxman looked like 3 hooded serpents amongst all. Indrajit shot flood of arrows remaining invisible. Thus, enveloped by stream of arrows, Rām Laxman fitted divine missiles to their bows but could not touch Indrajit, who created a dark smoke in sky. Indrajit made all quarters invisible & there was mist like darkness around. As he moved around, neither sound of his palm on bow string nor that of chariot wheels & horses could be heard

In thick darkness, Indrajit showered steel arrows & pierced Rām in all his limbs. Rām shot his golden arrows in direction from where arrows were coming but the demon was swift in shifting positions. No one could perceive his position as Indrajit also killed Vānaras who dropped dead in hundreds

Laxman was enraged & told Rām that he would employ missile presided over by Brahmā, meant to kill all demons on earth. Rām said-You ought not kill all demons on earth, for the sake of a single demon. Don’t kill ones who are not fighting, who are hiding or who seek refuge with joined palms or are fleeing or intoxicated. We shall try to kill Indrajit alone & will employ mystic missiles with great impetuosity, equal to venomous serpents

We often are not focused on the problem alone & what effort it requires. We tend to use disproportionate response and do more damage than good. There is difference between an impulse & a response. Impulses come from the mind whereas response comes from intelligence (dovetailed to the soul). If we understand the difference of the roots from where they originate, we can increase the distance between impulse & response. Impulses are normally mind’s proposition disconnected from reality & don’t represent our real intentions

Responses are always linked to a higher purpose, to serve and not to take control. It elevates & connects to divine purpose
