Power of perseverance!

Hanumān leapt into sky. Beholding the sea, whose waves along with its water were made to agitate & creatures were caused to whirl round, he quickly speeded up. Gazing at hills, flocks of birds, lakes, rivers & towns, Hanumān with speed equal to that of his father, the wind God, shot forth towards Himalayas. Not fatigued, he rushed forward taking recourse of the orbit of Sun

Remembering words of Jāmbavan & is urgency, he took huge strides & suddenly saw Himalayas ahead. He saw beautiful mountains embellished with different kinds of cascades, caves & trees with summits resembling an assembly of white clouds. He saw holy hermitages inhabited by multitude of divine sages. He saw abode of Brahmā, abode of Shiva- Kailāsa, abode of Indra, arrow-discharging place of Rudra & worshipping place of Hayagriva

He saw abode of Agni-the fire god, abode of Kubera shining like sun, & navel of earth (containing the hole through which one can enter Pātala, nethermost subterranean region). He saw gigantic Mount Kailāsa (on which Lord Shiva is believed to have practiced austerities & abstract meditation) & Mount Rishabha, the lofty golden mountain, which was illumined by flaming herbs

Seeing it shining like fire, Hanumān was surprised to see vastness of the mountain & searched for herbs which he was asked to bring. He walked around looking but knowing that someone was coming in search of them, all distinguished herbs disappeared from his view. Not seeing the desired herbs, Hanumān was enraged & said-O prince of mountain, it is quite sure that you have no compassion for Rām. If it is so, overcome by strength of my arms, find yourself shattered to pieces today

Seizing fiercely the top of the mountain which contained lots of minerals, trees, elephants, gold etc Hanumān uprooted it, frightening the worlds together with celestials (who but praised him) & sprang into sky, proceeding expeditiously with speed of Garuda. Grasping mountain peak radiant as Sun, Hanumān, also shown like Sun. There were two Suns shining in the sky

Hanumān quickly reached Lankā. Vānaras seeing him roared in delight & saw him descending on Trikuta. Son of wind god then offered salutations to all with his head bent low

When we see someone achieving something great, we may think he is empowered by divine powers to achieve things against all odds. But we don’t see their relentless perseverance amidst obstacles. Whenever we do anything, we usually have various levels of motivation which pushes us thro’. Depending upon depth of our motivation & its importance, we persevere despite facing obstacles

This thought gives us so much satisfaction that we too can press on no matter what the obstacle is. Even if external success takes time, we will discover in our perseverance an inner connection with divine that is sublimely enriching & supremely fulfilling. This resilience together with service attitude is the most important empowerment & can move mountains
