Power of One!
Rāvan returned to his assembly hall dejected, distressed & snorted like a lion. Emaciated due to his son’s death, he joined his palms in salutation & said to his army chiefs-Surrounded by entire elephantry & cavalry we have, with columns of chariots & foot soldiers, all of you march forward to encircle Rām alone to kill him. The demons sallied forth to equipped themselves with best weapons that could destroy all life
As the Sun rose next day, a terrific & tumultuous war ensued between Vānaras & demons. As battle progressed, enormous dust settled on streams of blood from dead beings, forming a marshy land. With elephants & chariots as riverbanks, horses as fish, flag staff as trees, rivers of blood gushed forth carrying dead. Vānaras leapt & jumped & caused maximum damage on marauding demons. With sharp teeth & nails, they tore off their hairs, ears, eyebrows & noses
100 Vānaras rushed forward towards each single demon, as birds rush towards tree laden fruits. The demons regrouped & struck down terrific Vānaras with large maces & swords, who then sought refuge in Rām, the protector. Rām took his bow & entered the field, streaming forth shower of arrows. Demons didn’t dare to approach him as his arrows scorched them with flames. They weren't even able to see him, as he blew away demon army. Rām was too swift in action
Here is Rām, killing army of elephants, destroying great chariot-warriors, killing foot-soldiers along with horses with sharp arrows-Saying so, demons struck one another with rage those who were of similar appearance to Rām. This confusion was due to great mystic missile presided over by Gandharvas. At times, demons saw 1000’s of Rām & at other only one
All saw Rām in the form of a discus, killing demons, like Wheel of Time, with its flame, arrows for its spokes, bow for felly of wheel, twanging of bowstring & clanging of gauntlet, for the sound produced by its revolution, his energy, virtues, radiance & power of his mystic missiles for its edge. Within a matter of 3 hours, Rām killed an army of demons, including 10000 chariots, 18000 strong elephants, 14000 horses with riders & full 200000 demons fighting on foot, all done with swiftness as of wind
Surviving demons, with their horses killed, chariots destroyed & with spirits broken, rushed back towards Lankā. The battlefield, with elephants, foot-soldiers & horses killed, looked like a pleasure-grave of powerful & enraged Lord of destruction
Here is the Supreme Lord himself showing us the power of one. We also have unlimited potential, but due to the limitation of our mind, we tend to underutilize it. When the mind is focused, it can do amazing things. If we persevere & concentrate, many things which seems impossible becomes possible. But when it is distracted, it just not underperforms but also self-destructs. It is like the power of electricity which can be harnessed for useful work but if we touch a live wire, is fatal
Choice is ours!
